T H E G E O R G E WA S H I N G T O N U N I V E R S I T Y ERIC CARCICH / HEAD COACH Eric Carcich is in his first year as head coach for the women's rowing at The George Washington University. Carcich replaces former head coach Rob McCracken. Carcich will be responsible for all aspects of the Colonials women’s rowing program, which opens the 2009-10 season on Oct. 10 at the Head of the Mon in Morgantown, WV. Carcich comes to GW from the University of Pennsylvania where he has served as the assistant coach for the heavyweight men for the past three seasons. A 1996 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Carcich also was the head rowing coach at his alma mater from 1997-99. While in Amherst, his varsity lightweight eight team captured silver medals at the 1998 New England Championship. In his first year of coaching he saw the lightweight eight take the gold medal in the New England Championships and the Champion Regatta, while the heavyweight eight won the bronze at the New England Championships. Carcich also coached at Yale University from 1999-2006 as an assistant lightweight men's rowing coach. While in New Haven, Carcich led the Bulldogs freshman squad to seven medals at the Eastern Sprints during his six years in the program. At Yale, he guided the Bulldogs to the 2002 Eastern Sprint Freshmen Lightweight gold medal, as well as the silver medal in 2001 and the bronze medals in 2000 and 2003. He also served as the head coach of the men’s and women’s teams at the New Haven Rowing Club. The group, which rowed both recreationally and competitively, numbered between 75 and 100 members.

LEANNE DAVIS / INTERIM ASSISTANT COACH Leanne Davis is in her first year as an interim assistant coach for women’s rowing. Before coming to Foggy Bottom, Davis was the Director of Adult Rowing at the Norwalk River Rowing Association in Norwalk, CT. In addition to coaching all levels of adult rowing, from novice to competitive open athletes, she was the Novice Girls Coach. Davis Began her rowing career at the U.S. Naval Academy, where she competed at the highest levels of collegiate rowing. As a lightweight sculler, Davis trained with the Pocock Elite Sculling Team in Seattle, WA. Competing at the 2005 U.S. Rowing National Championships, Davis earned a bronze medal in the Women’s Elite Lightweight Single and a silver medal in the Women’s Intermediate Lightweight Single. Her coaching career includes masters coaching at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center in San Diego, CA and at the New Haven Rowing Club in New Haven, CT. Davis is married to current Men’s Rowing Head Coach Mark Davis. They reside in Washington, DC.
