THE BOY
Once filled with happiness Now filled with sorrow
Hazel eyes Now watery His honey colored hair with hints of dust Now darker than ever
“Hellp! He howls. Nobody in sight Nobody near to hear his cries Nobody here to heal his wound
2
Assonance
3
THE LAND OF GOLD OH I HOPE To find the NOTE That takes me to Eldorado
I took it SLOW But now I KNOW There is NO land of GOLD
I took the ROAD Back to HOME
And when I got back, I TOLD a JOKE That I had found Eldorado

Onomatopoeia: (Write a three stanza poem about the bells at school. The first stanza must be about the morning bell; The second stanza must be about the lunch bell; The third stanza must be about the dismissal bell; Each stanza must be at least 4 lines and contain at least 4 examples of Onomatopoeia!) THE BELLS The first bell From shouting and yelling To moaning and groaning Your name has been called, And the day has started
From the growling of stomachs To the chit-chat of friends From the stomping of shoes To the clit-clats of plates
From the whispers of students To the zips of the zippers The screeches of chairs The tolling of the last bell
6
Imagery

ICICLES
I can see the white icicle Hanging from the roof The smell of hot chocolate The sound of kids screaming
I race outside I grab the smooth, cold icicle My hands are turning red I take a bite The cold, hard ice, Melting in my mouth 8
Personification

WAKING UP The screaming of my alarm clock While my bed hugs me to stay The sun rushes into my bedroom Just to poke me in the eye The floor moving up and down Trying to trip me
I walk into my first class To see my homework run away from me My pencil screaming at me Saying he was bored yesterday Because he wanted to do some work
10
Rhyme
11
THE SPY? There is this teacher at my school Who is always acting cool I think she’s a spy I don’t know why She is very curious Sometimes she may get furious She teaches many classes She wears dark glasses Dark clothes And a pointy nose I asked her about missions She said she’s been in risky conditions 12
Simile/Metaphor
13
Simile and Metaphor: Self Portrait
School Waking up early is torture The teachers are the dictators of the class School is a dictatorship When the late bell rings People running across the halls like cheetahs When they walk into class They are exhausted as if they ran a marathon
Sitting behind a desk; all day Wanting to be free like a bird who wants to fly Staring at the desk feels like a million years The last bell is the bell of freedom
14
Tone
15
Write a 3 stanza LOVE poem expressing in each stanza respectively a POSITIVE tone, a NEGATIVE tone. Each stanza must be a minimum of four lines
Basketball
So fun to play And very entertaining to watch When your favorite team wins Or when you make the game-winning shot The feeling; It’s the best feeling in the world
Running up and down the court An amazing team sport Some fans are cheering The other fans tearing
How can you watch that Ten tall people sweating Running up and down the court Don’t forget about the injuries
16
Mood
17
Alarmed The boy looking around He had heard a scream The boy looking around; because he heard a sound It was the couch; it was screaming The boy jumped up And threw his cup
Calm He was sitting down, calmly But the couch; Screaming As if there were an African Elephant lying on him The boy was laying down While the couch had a frown The heavy boy, happy and unharmful
18
Hyperbole
19
Hyperbole about HOMEWORK; Write a 1o line poem must contain at least 3 hyperboles.
HOMEWORK I have tons of homework! I open up my backpack; A million things to be done All the papers scream They all jump out at me A mile stretch of papers
All the papers bunch up I hear them scream “He’s finally dying” And to my surprise the easy homework screams “He’s finally dying of overdose!”
20
Allusion
21
Allusion; 3 stanza poem (each stanza 4 lines). 1 allusion per stanza. Romeo He’s like a Romeo with the ladies And they are all in love with him A really big fool Because he rarely goes to school
In school, he is always carrying a basketball He loves to play basketball He wears his Steph Curry shoes And screams “Kobe!” whenever he shoots
People say that he has good dance moves Some even say he dances like Carlton Banks He’s good at everything Everybody wants to be like him 22

Sonnet 89
Lips of snow, visage of dust, inhale fog. Charred lungs, deep breaths, daylight ends, darkness ‘wakes. Shady gents, no rent, trapped amid the bog. Stuck in her dreams and searching for snowflakes. In the pub, since eighteen drinking, sinking. They proclaim ‘tis free, but the price is steep. Mad she goes for a few stones. Sends her flying. Until angel’s dying. She’s buried deep. Attire tattered. Drowning, can’t stay afloat No gravity. Icy cold she hovers. Heavenly bodies a wait with no coat. Celestial being takes no more lovers. Many mistakes now just a wasted life. Thy fair maiden no longer filled with strife. 24
