The Little Girl and the Daisy : Alliteration Daisies in the sun, dancing around delightedly. With their white petals that descend like a strand of pearls, And their dauntless way of blooming, slowly and then all at once They dazzled the little damaged girl as she picked them. But then, she saw a very distinct and different blossom. “The damaged one over there,” she sang As she dizzily spun. The poor flower was dying, but it drew her like a moth to a flame. Slowly, she clutched it in her petite hand, And said, “My dear Daisy, you’re the one for me!”
Rules of School: Assonance “A”d
I break the rules of my school all the time, Just because it’s very lame I hate school so much, it’s always the same things! I ate fries today, but there was no ketchup, what a shame! I got a really bad grade today, definitely was not an A, So I made my way to the back of the room, and escaped! I ran all the way across the lake Jumped over eight different snakes Even though my parents grounded me, I was very brave to leave, you know? So now I’m sitting on my bed, watching TV and writing this, But even though I’m listening to my parents screaming my name, And I’m calling this a day.
Time (Onomatopoeia) Ring, Ring! Goes the bell at 8:55 I stomp my foot in despair I hate school, I mumbled to myself And then the teacher started growling at us telling us what to do I hear a loud slap behind my back and realize it's the teacher telling me to wake up!
Ring, Ring! Goes the bell at 1:05! I blurt out, ITS LUNCH! I ran to my friends hearing my feet go thump thump I got my food and quietly clapped, because it's mac and cheese day! I chattered and giggled until the bell rung
I'm looking at the clock impatiently Clicking my pen every second Ring, Ring! Goes the bell at 3:15! Finally! I squealed in happiness I hear the screech of the bus coming around in the corner And got in the bus with a grin on my face
“My Dear Phone”: Imagery Everytime I hear the loud echoing of my phone ringing, It smells like an invitation to go out to eat! I quickly grab everything I need, including the cold metal iPhone my mom gave me And I hop in my friend’s car, blasting out music We got to the restaurant and we both took a seat But all we really did was take selfies We giggled and laughed at funny videos we found online But finally, I saw the food coming! I was starving and my stomach was aching for some food When the food got here, I could taste something salty and sweet at the same time, the best thing I’ve ever had. So I quickly thanked my phone, so my friend wouldn’t see We left the restaurant and I felt something missing. My phone! I yelped, as my heart was beating fastly I ran back and looked everywhere But someone had stolen it, so my heart was breaking.
“I Wish”: Personification I try really hard to fly like the birds But I really am just an airplane, there’s nothing I can do I wish of going to Paris and staying there for a week But I’m just dreaming, I’m too weak to fly that much without gasoline I wish I could float around like the clouds Not having a care about the world Everyone that goes inside of me is super rude They leave trash everywhere like if I was a trashcan Birds just fly peacefully without gas But my engines won’t last that long without having to refill I’m just a pathetic airplane, I said to myself But, there’s only one thing that’s good Instead of making my dreams come true, I can make someone else’s by taking them to Peru Now I have to go fly
“Nothing Matters when you have love: Rhyming A burger, I went to eat When I saw it, my heart beat I grabbed it quickly with an arm As my eyes twinkled with charm My sister told me I had to share So I ate it with only one bite, there was nothing left but air She got mad at me for being grumpy But the thing is, I was just hungry! We went home and she started screaming But with the burger I was dreaming I woke up when we stopped the car And my sister turned around and said, look at that star.
“The Monster Under My Bed: Simile/ Metaphor I used to be as free as the air roaming around But now I feel like I am trapped inside, I had fallen through a door of insecurity. I used to be as brave as a lion, But now, I am as scared as a rat is scared of a cat I am drowning in a sea of sadness, and I really wish I wasn’t. Everyone used to tell me I was friendly, But now they look at me like if I was a monster. I feel like an earthquake is happening inside of me, Slowly starting and then all at once; I feel like I am falling into a deep black hole. I get up, I look at myself in the mirror But then, right at that second, I realized that I killed someone, I killed the girl who used to be me.
“Her.”: Tone (Love) Those big, green, beautiful eyes, And her long, curly, blonde hair. Her smile is like a strand of pearls shining for everyone to see As she walks gracefully, towards me.
She’s grumpy sometimes, though And she’s always hungry She always whines about parties saying they should be better And she also snores like a tractor.
I love her with all my heart and she certainly knows that And I wouldn’t change her for anything We love each other like a rabbit loves carrots But in the end, she’s my best friend, she can’t be replaced.
“The Party”- Mood (Nervous and Confident) It’s hard to walk in these heels, I thought to myself As I quickly got out of the car I felt like Nemo, all lost in the ocean Will anyone talk to me, I thought Will anyone wanna dance with me, I thought Do I look pretty enough, I thought I saw the boy I liked And my cheeks got as red as a tomato His hair looks as soft as a horse’s mane But I refused to say hi, scared he was gonna ignore me
I quickly walked into the party looking around Everyone was staring at me, was that a good thing? I felt someone grab my waist carefully I turned around and saw my crush. Oh my gosh! I felt the butterflies in my stomach dancing around He asked me softly, do you wanna dance? I quickly responded, YES! We danced like nobody was watching And we felt like we owned the night And after it was over he asked me for my number So I gave him it and waited for his text I’m so glad I went to this party, Mom, I said as I got in the car And she just looked back and said, I told you so, and after she winked
“Busy Life”- Hyperbole Teachers don’t understand that I’m a very busy girl I have 100 parties each weekend And to add, soccer practice every day The homework they give us is endless They think I am friendless! When someone doesn't do their homework, The teachers get angry at everyone, But what can they expect, It’s their fault for giving us so much! When I open my backpack, It’s like a sea of homework madness! My backpack is heavier than 300 rocks all together, But the teachers think it’s as light as a feather. I start doing my homework peacefully, But then I get stressed out and take one long nap before soccer. After soccer I come home to find more homework waiting for me, And its seems that there is more than before! I get home so hungry that I could eat a horse, So I forget about my homework, of course. I wake up at dawn, without getting any sleep, But I told myself that I wouldn’t do that 50 million times! I finally finished a ton of homework And went to school again, For only 8 hours, I went, But it certainly feels like a million years.
“World War II: Allusion When I got into a fight with my bestfriend, It was like World War II. I didn’t know who to sit with at lunch, But whatever, I had more friends, so I sat with another bunch. She stared at me like I was Benedict Arnold, Thinking I was a traitor, But the truth was, She was the one who left me for her boyfriend. I came up to her feeling all confident During lunch while she was laughing But she stared at me like the Mona Lisa I said hi, but she ignored me So I flipped my hair and pretended not to care But I was really devastated
Sonnet 56 I shall attend the social festival. On Saturday Eve, shall party commence. Thine villagers await my arrival. My new carriage announces my presence. Glittering jewels shine diamond like bright. Far I can travel for I never end. My party begins on mid summer’s night. Dancing like lunatics, we shall pretend. Sojourning through the London West end clubs. A live thy city, all shaking thy bums. Royals get intoxicated at pubs. Connecting with the rich, avoiding slums. Operating is my avocation. All leave thy party with appreciation.
