Alliteration Satisfy Stella always knew she was special to Steve Still she never stopped or waited to see. How Steve wanted Stella to believe That he was selfless, in every way she needed.

He put Stella’s safety before his own He bought her anything that he could bestow Yet Stella’s still too stubborn to accept Steve was kinder to her than anyone she met

Assonance Wondering There was a yell and a mess Someone desperately begged Not a person knew when This chaos would end

Men were craning their necks While kids were still in their beds Parents silently pled for War to come to an end

4

Onomatopoeia Same Bell, Different Times Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring. The bell slowly read Backpacks bang on cement floor, With a dreadful thud Some students are swimming, The cold water splashing, Computers clicking, Teachers speaking Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Food carts rolling to tables, Students giggle People chatter

5

Bingbingbingbing! The bell can not wait The loud bangs of doors shutting, Shouts of students and their cars honking, The zip of a backpack and slams of a book, The school ends this way

Imagery Rainstorm My room was humid and warm The sky was dark and filled with grey clouds My lamp only lit up part of my desk The sharp rain clattered on my roof My sister banging on my door My mom was baking banana bread The scent flowed to my room I closed my window opened my door My sister gave me yellow boots to wear We splashed in the rain and the mudpuddles Little ducks playing in the dark

Simile/Metaphor Hour of Boredom The nail on the wall hang loosely Like the violin in my hand The painting that hang on it was a movie Which was the only thing that entertained me The stressful part of my day Is when i am staring at the pile of black dots The alarm clock that rang after an hour Is like a life vest to freedom

11

The last ten minutes goes as slow as if it is going in slow motion The only thing pushing me to practice Are the reminders of lessons and competitions I hate them like people hate heights Still I go there with a heavy heart Like a sleepwalking sloth, I set up my stand And the crawling hour begins

12

Rhyme Snowy Winters The birds flew from the tree Into the nearby narrow alley The grass swayed with the wind While bushes all drastically thinned The snow blew everywhere It made a deep layer

13

Everyone wears jackets At night with many blankets Families sit around And make s'mores until they’re brown Winter is the best season Even during school lessons

14

Tone Pictures They record memories They contain emotions Never forget the past Easier to draw than paintings

Always catching the worst moments We can never fully delete them Bad pictures can be laughed at They can go all over the internet

15

A click or tap is all Displays still seconds On a screen or printed out Some are printed out

16

The Party Everyone is staring at me Me the gold star of the party Not even the lights can overshine me All the guests are interested in my stories The host is even watching like a child watching an action show Even when the plate crashes they do not turn their heads I am the center of attention My every step is dressed up fancily Heads are all turned in my

17

Everyone is dancing funkily The dance floor, the star of the party Not even bad music can stop the dancing All the guests are following the dance steps The host is being thrown up and watched like a zoo animal Even after midnight the honk of someone’s car is disappointing The party’s the highlight of the day Every person is sad to leave this adventure Heads are all still looking back at the party

Hyperbole Homework There were papers as high as buildings I forget what they were all for I only remember one thing They were unnecessary in every way

I picked up the first sheet of millions It was an unfinished history essay Didn’t my teacher just say, We should only worry about the present? What hypocrites, I thought as I moved on And continued complaining till the end

20

Allusion Different Worlds I once met a 2-year-old boy, Whose house to me looked pure diamond From where I was standing I couldn’t even see, The walls on either side of his home

I once met another 2-year-old boy, Whose mother sewed his clothing From where I was standing I couldn’t even see If the tent was his home or if it's the only thing he has

21

I once learned about a wonderful woman, Who helped those children in need Everyone I know, from the entirely different worlds All believed she was a true role-model

22

Sonnet People are like fingerprints in the sand, Easily washed away and forgotten, And no one will be remembered on land Do not try to be like others again You’ll regret it for the rest of your life Express yourself for who you really are

23

You have to leave a mark just like a knife You need to believe because you’re not far From wherever you think the others lay Open doors to others showing examples Impress others like you did everyday Everybody is a unique firework Everyone has their own great special perk
