Six Word MemoirNothing Beautiful Can Ever Stay Golden.

Johnny Cade By: Henry Bryan

Nothing Beautiful Can Ever Stay

Novel: The Outsiders Character: Johnny Cade Six Word Memoir: Nothing Beautiful Can Ever Stay Golden

My memoir for Johnny is about how something beautiful can never stay beautiful. Johnny Cade was introduced into the book The Outsiders and Ponyboy described him by saying

“If you can picture a dark

puppy that has been kicked around too many times and has gotten lost in a crowd of people you'll have Johnny. Johnny is abused at home by his father and his mother ignores him. He has a very hard life. He considers the Greasers as family instead of his blood family. The memoir that I wrote was based off Johnny’s life. He started his life as a smart, beautiful child but throughout the story we learned that people have damaged and smudged his beauty. His last words were ‘Stay golden Ponyboy’ which is where I get the word ‘Golden’.

The memoir “athletic, leader, provides love and support,” represents Darry, the eldest brother or the Curtis family, as a character who who provides love and support to his brothers. Also, Darry shows his love to Ponyboy when he pushes Ponyboy to his limits so he can do something great in his life. Darry wants his brother to have greater opportunities than himself. Darry’s athletic skill is evident because he was the Captain of the football team. Darry even won a scholarship to college. Dally Winston Acts tough. Loses friend. Gave up

Acts Tough. Loses Friend. Gives up.

Novel: The Outsiders Character: Dallas Winston Six Word Memoir: Acts tough. Loses friend. Gives up.

This memoir “Acts tough. Loses friend. Gives up.” is about the character Dallas Winston in the book The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton. It represents him because he is a tough, smart, troublemaker guy who is always getting arrested. He is tough, he doesn’t care with who he fights with, he will do it. He is not really scared of anything, since he first went to jail when he was 10. Throughout the book, he starts caring more about things and people, such as his friend Johnny Cade. Johnny looks up to Dally as a hero, an inspiration. Dally didn’t hate anything but the Socs, which was a gang of high- classed people, while Dally’s gang, the Greasers, were a gang of low- classed people. Ponyboy Curtis is also a character from the novel, and he is a boy in Dally’s gang. When Ponyboy and Johnny get in trouble with the Socs by killing someone, they want to run away. They go to Dally for help, and Dally is the one who helps them escape their town. They hide- out for a couple of weeks, and Dally came to visit them. One day, Ponyboy left a cigarette burning inside the church, which was where they were hiding out. The cigarette starts a fire, and some people were inside the church. Ponyboy and Johnny go inside the church roaring with fire, and rescues everyone that is inside. Dally hits Ponyboy in the back really hard since he has fire, and Ponyboy passes out. Johnny becomes very ill and Dally starts becoming more and more depressed as each day passes. Ponyboy, Dally, and the rest of the gang came to visit him every day. They knew he was dying, but they just didn't want to accept it. Johnny dies, and POnyboy is in denial that he is dead. Dallas is starting to give up because his buddy is dead. One day, Dally goes out with an unloaded gun and points it at a cop. The cop shoots him, and Dally dies. Even though it seemed that Dally did not care about anything, he gave up when his buddy, Johnny, died. That is true love.

Sodapop Living clueless without love, but happy.

Living clueless without love, but happy.

Mica Einhorn

The memoir “Living clueless without love, but happy” describes Sodapop’s life and fits his character. In The Outsiders Sodapop has no love. In the novel ponyboy thinks about sodapop’s old horse. The horse was named mickey and sodapop loved that horse with all his heart. In order for Sodapop to support his family he had to sell mickey. Next Sodapop has no love because his girlfriend named Sandy moved to Florida. She moved because she got pregnant and Sodapop was not the father. Sodapop was willing to marry her but she decided to move with her grandparents. Sodapop is clueless because he didn’t go to schools and he does not use his head a lot. So when something terrible happens to him he does not put that much thought into it which makes him a happy person. In conclusion Sodapop through it all is a happy character.

Steve Randall Has a good friend yet arrogant

By Anthony Fernandez

Paragraph The six word memoir that I wrote for Steve from the Outsiders was has a good friend yet arrogant. This character is Sodapops friend throught the story Sodapop is a nice friend which is why I put has a nice friend. This is shown at the times where Sodapop has helped other people like Ponyboy. For example when sodapop sticks up for Ponyboy when Darry gets mad at him. The part that states he is arrogant is what I am now going to explain. This is shown to the reader when Ponyboy describes Steve as cocky, smart and Soda’s best buddy since grade school. In conclusion this is shown when Sodapop is a good friend because he sticks up for his friends and when Steve is called arrogant by Ponyboy.

The memoir “Smart. Soc Died. Hiding. Throughout the book the conflict between the Soc and the Greasers grows and the the Socs jump Johnny, a good friend of Ponyboy, and Ponyboy. While there jumping them Johnny has to kill a Soc to protect himself and Ponyboy. After this, Ponyboy and Johnny go into hiding at a church far away that way they aren't convicted of murder. Outsider Greaser The Youngest Becomes Mature

Outsider Greaser The Youngest Becomes Mature

Novel:Outsiders Character:Ponyboy Six Word Memoir: Outsider Greaser The Youngest Becomes Mature

The memoir “Outsider Greaser,The Youngest Becomes Mature” fits because it describes Ponyboy’s transformation from his immaturity to maturity. At the beginning of the book, Ponyboy was caught up in the violence and confused about who is new family was. As the book progresses he realizes that acting in violence didn't bring his new gang family closer together, rather, it pushed them apart and made him feel more like an outsider than ever before. By the end of the novel, Ponyboy understands his family, and the people he truly cares about mean more than a difference in economic class. In conclusion, The Outsiders is really just a coming of age story about a boy that was dealt a bad hand in life, but was still able to mature.

Two-Bit Mathews Mar Huguet

Six Word Memoir: Greaser Jokester. Carries Switchblade. Professional Shoplifter.

Every Man For Himself

Novel: The Outsiders Character: Two-Bit Mathews Six Word Memoir: Greaser Jokester, Carries Switchblade, Professional Shoplifter

The Memoir “Every Man for Himself” represents S.E Hinton’s character Two-Bit Mathews in the novel The Outsiders characterizing all his actions, thoughts or looks. Two-Bit is an East-side greaser who spends the day joking around and shoplifting. Throughout the novel, Two-Bit fights in rumbles, carries around his most prized possession, his switchblade, jokes around with all his friends and shoplifts many stores with his sneaky talents. When Two-Bit saw Ponyboy talking to some girls, Cherry and Marcia during the movie, Two-Bit, being his funny self decides to come in and join the conversation by joking around with Cherry Valance and annoying her. Even if he fell off his chair and embarrassed himself, he atleast made everyone laugh which is what he does. Two-Bit never leaves his switchblade behind. Even during rumbles, when the Socs and greasers fight and they’re not allowed to use weapons, he will always take it with him no matter what. Even if he is the jokester of the group, he still has some serious fighting and brave side in him with the use of his switchblade. Two-Bit can be also daring, or fun throughout the novel aswell. He will always be there to cheer anyone up and whenever there's a rumble, he will get up on his feet excited for the fight. Anytime his greaser friends want him, he will be right by their side to help out. Two-Bit Mathews, will always be remembered as a greaser who always jokes around, always carrying his prize possession, his switchblade, and a professional shoplifter. At the end of the book, two of his friends Johnny and Dallas Winston die. Although, he is still the practical jokester everyone knows him for because it didn't impact him as much as it did to Ponyboy, the youngest greaser. He will always use his actions and words to describe himself in all six memoirs throughout the book. In conclusion, Two-Bit Mathews shows most of his description by the actions and words he uses or says. Everything he says or does, makes him the person he is to this day.

Sodapop Curtis Caring and Easygoing High school Drop out.

by Malu Lopez

Novel: The Outsider

Caring and Easygoing High School Dropout

Character: Sodapop Curtis Six Word Memoir: Caring and Easygoing High School Dropout

The memoir “Caring and Easygoing High School Dropout represents Sodapop Curtis, from the novel The Outsiders, as a character who cares about his family, drops out of school, and looks at life more positively than others. In the novel Sodapop shows on multiple events how much he cares about Ponyboy and Darry. For example, he does not like it when his brothers fight so when they do he tries to stop the argument and defend Ponyboy. His brothers are the only family he has left and he does not enjoy seeing them argue. Sodapop dropped out of school because he felt he was not smart or focused enough to be attending. When he dropped out he got a job fixing cars so he can help with payments. Sodapop looks at life more positively than others. He tries to take care of his family when they need help. For example, when Ponyboy woke up after passing out when Dally was shot at the lot he stayed watching him for days to make sure he was fine. Sodapop Curtis is someone who cares about his family, dropped out of High School, and looks at life more positively than others.

Six Word Memoir: Different groups. Different personalities. Same sunset.

Different groups. Different personalities. Same sunset.

Novel: The Outsiders Character: Cherry Valance Six Word Memoir: Different groups. Different personalities. Same sunset.

The six word memoir "Different groups. Different personalities. Same sunset", represents Cherry Valance, a character from the novel The Outsiders who is in the group of the Socs, but through the story she helps the Greasers and both find out that even though the groups are different with different types of personalities, they all see the same sunset, which means that they are all the same even if they don't seem the same. In the book Cherry is in the Socs group which is the group that is considered the opposite of the Greasers, so they usually are usually fighting with each other, so they really consider themselves different from each other because one group might be poor and steal, while the other group has a lot of money. Each group, depending on which type of people they have in have different personalities. For example the Greasers are tough and some steal, while the Socs are the group that usually like to gang up to one Greaser, such as the example when they beat Johnny the different personalities is also something that considers them different from each other, even if they aren't really all that different. Even though they might look like they're different they both still see the same sunset, which means that both groups of people are each facing their own problem even if it looks like the Socs don't have any problems they do, such as like Bob who had parents that said yes to anything he asked, while he really just wanted to be a normal kid. Different groups. Different personalities. Same sunset, represents Cherry because at the beginning all the groups thought they were different, even though each of them are the same with all sorts of problems in their lives.

Johnny Cade Burning building. Screaming kids. Valiant sacrifice.

by Cole Signorelli

This memoir represents Johnny Cade, characterized from S.E. Hinton because he is brave and valiant throughout the whole story. To start, Johnny is valiant when he and Ponyboy get into a fight with the ever so dangerous Socs. During the fight, Bob (the leader of the Socs), gets stabbed by Johnny and dies. All the other Socs run away after this event and Johnny is left with a dead body and his friend. Also, Johnny has the courage to run away with his friend and just a gun and some money. They hide out in secrecy because they do not want to get caught by the cops and taken to jail for the murder of Bob. Johnny buys food for the stay in the church and they hide out for a couple days before their friend, Dally, picks them up and takes them back home. To end, he is the most brave when he runs into the burning church and saves a bunch of kids who got trapped inside. This took a courageous person and also someone who is willing to sacrifice for others. Sadly, Johnny does not make it through to survive. all these examples how Johnny was a valiant and brave person who was willing to sacrifice for other people. Johnny is someone who should be looked up to from many readers and should inspire people to be as valiant and brave as he was.

Isn’t like rest of the Socials

Randy Adderson

by Rachel Simmons

Isn’t like rest of the Socials

Novel: The Outsiders Character: Randy Adderson Six Word Memoir: Isn’t like rest of the Socials.

The memoir “Isn’t like rest of the Socials” describes the character, Randy Adderson, from The Outsiders because even though all his friends want to fight, Randy does not because he believes that no matter who wins the fight, nothing will change between the two groups. He believes that after the rumble, Greasers will still be Greasers and Socials will still be Socials. Whoever wins the rumble will not become better than the other group. Furthermore, another way that he isn’t like the rest of the Socials is he becomes friends with Ponyboy, even though Ponyboy is a Greaser and the Socials and the Greasers are always fighting. This makes him different from the rest of the group because the Socials hate the greasers and because of Bob’s death, Randy became friends with Ponyboy, who is a greaser. Moreover, another way that shows that this memoir best describes Randy is when Randy visits Ponyboy in his home after he gets a concussion from getting kicked in the rumble. Ponyboy stays in bed for a week and after he wakes up, Randy came into his room to see if he was okay. Randy did not fight in the rumble but he heard that Ponyboy got a concussion so he went to visit him. This shows he is not like the rest of the Socials because he goes to visit a graeser, the enemy of the Socials. The memoir “Isn’t like rest of the Socials” bests fits Randy Adderson.

Darry Curtis Genius superman. Sacrifices college for family.

By : Sebastian Stephens

Genius Superman. Sacrifices College for Family

Novel : The Outsiders Character : Darry Curtis Six Word Memoir : Genius Superman. Sacrifices College for Family

The Memoir “ Genius Superman. Sacrifices College for Family “ represents that Darry gave up having a good future for the sake of family. He also is a really good student that is really strong. Darry is called Superman in the story because of his strength and athletic ability, like in the rumble he takes on the biggest Soc which was on the football team he used to play for. He is smart because Ponyboy said in the story that Darry was a good student and could of gotten into a good college but he sacrificed himself for family. He gives Ponyboy a speech about how he should use his brains in the real world and not just school, that annoyed Pony but it proved Darry really cared. He cares a lot about the family because he is kind of the parent to Soda and Pony. Another nickname they call Darry is Muscles and that is also because he is strong. Darry cares more about Pony and Soda than Johnny’s parents care about him because Darry was worried sick when Pony ran away but Johnny’s parents did not care where he was. At the end Darry started to show his affection more for Ponyboy. Darry is caring, strong and smart he is a “ Genius Superman. Sacrifices College for Family”.

Dally Winston Six Word Memoir- Dynamic character who is left friendless.

By Max Strongman

Six Word Memoir- Dynamic Novel- The Outsiders Character- Dallas Winston character who is left Six Word Memoir- Dynamic character friendless. who is later friendless.

Dallas Winston, known as Dally to the greasers, is a character in The Outsiders and is the toughest person in the gang, the greasers. One example proving my memoir fits Dally is that at the beginning of the story Ponyboy said, “His eyes were blue, blazing ice, cold with a hatred of the whole world and at the near end he helps Johnny and Ponyboy while they are in hiding. At first Dally is cold and mean but he is eventually helpful pulls through for the only person he really loves, Johnny. Another example of my memoir fitting Dally is that when Johnny dies Dally becomes friendless because Johnny was his only true friend. Once Johnny dies, Dally is so depressed that he decides to commit suicide. Before Johnny died Dally was fine but after, he becomes sad and depressed and decides there is no point in living without a friend . Finally the last example proving my memoir fits Dally is that before, in the beginning of the story, Dally was sent to jail at a young age, had a criminal record, unlike all the greasers, and stole things from super-markets. Then towards the end, he becomes more thoughtful and helpful only because Johnny is in trouble and Johnny is the only person that Darry actually loved. Darry fits the memoir because he is dynamic when at first he is cold but eventually pulls through for his friend, Johnny, and when he is left friendless after Johnny dies and he decides to commits suicide. In the end Dally truly fits the memoir, Dynamic character who is left friendless.
