BAYONNE 48” WATERMAIN REPAIR

Kearny, New Jersey

The City of Bayonne’s 48” Water Supply line which runs through the City of Kearny experienced a series of leaks necessitating the Bayonne MUA to take emergency measures. JINGOLI instituted a rolled steel plate repair at various sites to be able to maintain flaws through the pipeline while the work was being performed. Logistic issues of performing work adjacent to active New Jersey Transit rail lines, in tunnels under the CSX, New Jersey Transit and Path yards, and adjacent to environmentally sensitive areas added to the complexity of the work.

ATLANTIC CITY 48” WATERMAIN REPAIR

Atlantic City, New Jersey

An 87-year old valve that controlled the flow of water through one of only two transmission mains into Atlantic City was leaking. The valve situated in a vault directly adjacent to the Bay, which was attached to the main with lead and oakum joints. JINGOLI procured the necessary materials, equipment, and manpower to shut down the 48” main, drain down two miles of watermain, and replace the valve with a spool piece of pipe. JINGOLI’s crew worked around the clock for 32 hours straight to cut the valve loose to make the repair.

JERSEY 72” COMBINED SEWER REPAIR

Jersey City, New Jersey

Owner: Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority

Jersey City requested assistance in evaluating a sinkhole in one of their city streets. A preliminary inspection revealed that a steel 72” combined sanitary and storm sewer had collapsed. After exploratory excavations were performed it was determined that approximately 160 LF of pipe was in a severe state of disrepair. Utilizing (5) 12” pumps in an effort to bypass the flows, and working at depths of up to 15 feet, JINGOLI crews relayed the pipe and built two chambers to reinstitute flows in the line.

NEW JERSEY STATE PRISON

Trenton, New Jersey

Entering Thanksgiving weekend, the New Jersey State Prison, a maximum-security facility in Trenton, New Jersey, asked for assistance in repairing an underground watermain within the confines of its prisoner recreation area. The area, surrounded by a 15-Foot concrete wall with 6-Feet of razor ribbon on top necessitated an alternate approach to perform the excavation. JINGOLI rapidly advanced an engineered solution to lift a 10 Ton Backhoe over the detention wall and into the recreation area so that the repair could be facilitated. Under the watchful eye of armed guards and tower security, JINGOLI expedited the repair while preparing to work a continuous 24 hour day because of the security issues at the site.
