Diary of an Ant
Dina Bengelsdorf
December 11, 2013 Dear Diary, Today was a bad day. It was snowing. We ants hate to look for food in the snow. I hate going to the queen because she's really strict, especially when it's snowing.
December 12 Dear Diary, It's snowing again! The queen (who is very strict) ordered us to get food, in the snow! We ants dug and dug and dug for food. We found an apple and brought it to the queen. She slapped us with a lasso and we rushed to get more food. Sometimes we walk so fast, we feel like our legs are going to fall off! When we got back, we started fighting with the queen. She won. Sigh...
December 13 Dear Diary, The sun was shining at 2:00 in the morning, but guess what?! It started snowing a second later. The queen ordered us to dig down (again) for more food. She sure does like to eat, I just wish she'd like to work as much as she likes to eat. Anyways, we dug for more food. She slapped us with a lasso again, so we started cry. It's really hard to get food...
December 14 Dear Diary, Snowing again. Sigh. Queen Ant told us to fan her, give her a bath, and do her ''ant nails ". After that, all 12,000 species of ants had a meeting. It was about the queen. We told her what we thought about her and then she demanded us to give her a mani-pedi.
December 15 Dear Diary, It's still snowing, and at this point I wonder if I'll ever survive the winter. I heard some great news though! The queen moved to California! At least she's gone, but I heard the Ant Council made a replacement. Oh-no... I think it's her twin! She's even more strict than the old queen. The ''new queen '' made us give her a RAINBOW mani- pedi. What a mean queen she is, I mean "was. " She passed away a minute later, I think the fumes really got to her. :)
December 16 Dear Diary, I HATE snow, and come to think of it, snow hates me too :(. The new queen who was replaced AGAIN passed away too because she never worked on an ant farm! She couldn't handle it. It's really starting to get crazy around here. It's kind of nice that nobody can boss us around though, so we played, danced, and had fun. After partying we all got very sad. We knew we would probably die soon without a queen. That's the way life goes... tear* :(
December 17 Dear Diary, We woke up and saw a new queen, and it was raining, not snowing. Anyway, the queen we saw was doing all of our work!! I LOVE the new queen already! She said she would make chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, so we thanked her. She is so nice, I hope she stays forever. We saw her stomach and it looked big for an ant. We realized she was pregnant. She told us she is going to have one million babies!!!!!!
December 18 Dear Diary,
The queen fought with some really strict queens who wanted to replace her. As nice as she is, she's a "tough cookie". She won, and you can be sure those other queens won't come around any time soon. Suddenly, something smelled really horrible. We had to hold our breath it was so bad, we almost died. Our sense of smell is so good, we don't miss a thing! Thank goodness the smell went away, I think it was rotten pizza. :/
December 19 Dear Diary,
The Queen Ant had one million babies. They were very talented for baby ants. They seem to be very hyper and I think they ate too much sugar.
December 20 Dear Diary, It's a sunny day, but it is going to snow in ten minutes. The baby ants were jumping, twisting, turning, and playing like crazy! Speaking of crazy, life is weird... and good... but mostly crazy! Suddenly, the queen made an announcement. She said "I am going to a new nest. You may see me shed my wings. I will be sleeping there, but you will have mini- hotels there." We danced, sang, and celebrated. We were so happy!"
!e End :)
