Beef Cheeks - Lori Miller “Beef Cheeks is fictional quirky gastropub located on the trendy Park Ave. in Winter Park, Fl. Beef Cheeks is a quirky gastropub catering to young, eclectic professionals” I like the use of a simple 2 colour scheme throughout the entire brand. I also think the logo is simple, and I could apply something similar to ‘The Quick Brown Fox’.
Liverpool English Pub - Reynolds & Reyner “The symbol of Liverpool is The Liver Bird. This bird is like legendary Phoenix and Sirin birds – there were no such a thing in real life, however, scientists still argue what kind of extinct birds could be its prototype. By itself Liver is a symbol not only of Liverpool town, it’s also main part of logo of very famous English football club. The second part of the city’s name means the water because the city is located near the sea”
Despite this pub being in Ukraine, I think they have done a good job in making it look classically British. I love the use of the stamp, using both ink and with a wax seal, producing something high end. The contrast of the red stamp against the etched illustrations also work fantastically well together.

Ferguson’s - Scott Naauao
De Witte Koe - Yvan Berque
“A renovation and rebrand was necessary to suggest the new direction of the pub, from quaint to classy. Inspired by the founder’s origins as a ship worker and the pub’s location near the harbor of historical downtown Honolulu, the new brand begs the question: what happens when you playfully mix traditional Irish and nautical themes together?”
“De Witte Koe (The White Cow) is one of Menen’s last working class pubs. Nancy, the landlady, thought it was time put some new life in her establishment. She asked me to design a new logo and graphic identity. The main wall will be painted brick red, so the colour scheme was an obvious choice. Because of the long history of the pub (nearly a century) it was important to keep a link with the past. Hence the fitting retro style of the logo, typography and printed material.”
This is exacly something I want to go for. I have struggled to find the combination of both a traditional ‘pub’ aesthetic, combined with something quite modern. I love the simple colour scheme, adding a touch of class.
The name of this pub is very similar to ‘The Quick Brown Fox’, showing a way you could work quite literally with colour and an animal. Similarly to a previous project, I like the use of a silhouette to create a simple logo.

The Telegraph (Website) - Ben Murden “Concept for a new website for The Telegraph pub in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The pub wanted to take a new direction and look to improve it’s food sales through a brand new menu and updated image. This concept looks to draw on these new ideas with a design that is more appropriate to that of a ‘Gastro’ style pub.” Having just looked at printed media, I thought I should also consider how websites could look. I love the simple layout of this website, with a largely image based aesthetic. If there is great food available, it should be shown off!
The Elephant Wrester - Matt Hammond “From the name the brand identity grew to emphasise the charisma and showmanship of the wrestling champ paired with cheeky references to the old drinking adage of “seeing pink elephants”. The Elephant Wrestler possesses a warm and bright interior fit-out complete with this local character’s story, a series of wrestling trunks on display and touches of hot pink in the icons, imagery and uniforms.”
The website appears to be easily navigatable, as well as clear, concise & minimal. I love the use of negative space in the logo, combining the elephant and wrester. Maybe this is something I could employ with ‘The Quick Brown Fox’ & ‘The Lazy Dog’. I also like the use of a classic, monotone image (in the selected colour scheme) in the interior of the pub.
