Brief 01 - Organic by John Patrick This was my 'substantial' competition brief. The brief instructed to construct an identity for John Patrick, a New York based fashion designer. With jumpers often priced at over $200, it's clear that John Patrick values his brand as extremely high end. The custom logotype was created to reflect this high fashion aesthetic, whilst the logo itself (to be embossed) is an ambigous shape, inspired by organic form. This could be seen as contour lines, the rings in a tree, etc. The primary bodycopy typeface is a masculine contrast, emphasizing male input into a strongly female industry. The choice of stock is still to be decided. John Patrick prides himselve on an ethical and green practice, so the use of just black ink will create less of a carbon footprint than a four colour print. Please see sheets of stock on the table.
Left: Logo front / back and a label. Not too scale.

Brief 02 - Hip Hop Art Book I was approached by Ramsey Mullaney, who had seen my Secret 7' entry from 2013. He wanted me to produce some posters inspired by Hip Hop lyrics. I chose to create posters for three of my favourite rappers: MF Doom, Notorious BIG & Adam MCA Yaunch (from the Beastie Boys).
Left: Mad Villain - Rhinestone Cowboy 'Known as the grimey, limey, slimy, try me, blimey, Simply smashing in a fashion that's timely, Madvillain dashing in a beat rhyme crime spree'

Brief 03 - Lakai T Shirt Brief A quick turnaround brief that I spent a day on. Lakai advertised a competition on their Instagram page, to design a t shirt for them to use. The winner would get a large gift pack, full of clothes, as well as their design printed in mass. I wanted to try out some fashion designing, and produced a simple but proffesional design, to make my work stand out above the rest (other people who entered just showed drawings on a piece of paper). I wanted my mockup to look believable, in order to give me more ofa chance to win. Unfortunately, there were over 2000 entries, and my design was not taken forward.

Brief 05 - Optical Entertainment Another quick turn around brief. Optical Entertainment is a hopsitality company, based in North West London. Originally, I was asked to construct a brand identity for the company, but due to issues with how the company was run, I ended up just producing a logo. When the company has ironed out it's creases, I'm sure I will be able to complete the work I had started.

Brief 06 - LLCS This is a current project that needs to be completed. Louise Leadbeater is a commercial surveyor, with over 30 years of experience working at a city firm. She has decided to become freelance, bringing this knowledge to smaller clients, creating a friendlier, down to earth business. I was approached to contruct her identity. Louise works with square space, as well as spread sheets. The logo combines her initials with cornering, mimicking the space Louise works with.

Brief 08 - Scott Nash Scott Nash is a fashion designer, soon to graduate. I have been working with Scott to construct his identity as a fashion designer / stylist. He has asked for branded stationary, as well as a lookbook, hangers and labels. I have currently produced a logo, business cards, letterheads and an invoice. Scott works with mainly greys and blacks, and wanted the identity to reflect this. Luckily for Scott and myself, we have similar interests!

Brief 09 - Bounce Club Night A quick turnaround brief for a club night at Digital, Newcastle. The brief instructed a 'summery' feel, using vivid colour. The first idea was my favourite, and I thought worked perfectly. Despite this, my client wanted something much more 'generic' and so the second design was produced. Personally, I hated it, but my client loved it. I have learnt that in the future I should push my ideas further, so I don't end up designing something I hate!
