WELCOME Firstly, I’d like to welcome tonight’s guest’s, Surrey United, to the Sir David Wallace Arena here at the Loughborough University, for tonight’s BBL Championship game. Today we are back on Championship Duty, as we play London Lions tomorrow at the Copper box. Following last week’s game I would like to say a big thank you to all the fans, because your support was immense! Our WBBL team play away to Cardiff Met Archers in the BBL Trophy final first round, as they start their road to hopefully competing at Birmingham NIA on 11th January 2015. Liz Jennings who many of you will know has now left to persue a new opportunity at Leicester University. I would like to thank Liz for all of her hard work over the last two
and a half years. The club has come a long way in the last few years and I would like to wish Liz all the best for the future. Lots of announcements coming soon about new staff, as the club continues to move forward. Don’t forget we have lots of new community and satellite sessions and the Project Hub sites have now started to be announced. For all the latest community information please visit the Riders website or call the office on 01162558635. The atmosphere here at the Sir David Wallace Arena has been phenomenal and is an exciting indication of things to come! So please make some noise and get behind your team. #Hardworkbringssuccess

Coach Rob
ROB PATERNOSTRO
FORWARD When you have been involved in competitive sports for as long as I have you understand that there will be many highs and lows throughout your career. Sunday was one of the low days. After struggling to find the bottom of the net for most of the game we finally made our run, and even though we couldn’t make anything, and they were making everything. Our intensity, desire and competitiveness looked to push us over the line. The atmosphere was brilliant! Our fans were going crazy and it looked to be another magical night here at the Riders but sometimes it is not meant to be and when the shot went in off the backboard the feeling is something you never want to have.
competing, and keep getting better, it’s obvious to anyone who has watched the last few games that we need to do a better job of converting the good opportunities we are getting around the basket. If we improve there we will be in much better position to win games. Through another BBL scheduling quirk we have two games this weekend so all of our energy needs to be put in on our upcoming opponents. That’s what its all about, picking yourself up and getting ready to come out tonight with everything you have to look to continue our excellent start to the league. We are fired up to get back out on the floor, thanks for all the wonderful support, keep the noise up and get this place loud! Hope you enjoy the game
It was a difficult 24 hours or so and it is hard to get it out of the system but once I woke up Tuesday morning and headed to practice it was time to turn the page. Our job is to get to the practice floor and get our players to keep fighting, keep

BARRY LAMBLE
LAMBLE’S RAMBLE Last week’s loss still hurts and knowing that we won’t be playing in the final is something that I won’t get over for a little while.
We need to focus back on the league starting with Surrey tonight. Surrey are an ever improving team that gave us a good game last time they visited us.
Credit to Glasgow though, they took us out of our game and knocked down the big shot at the end. I think the fact that we didn’t play well in that game but we still had the chance to win it made it even more frustrating. that if we had, as a team, started the run earlier than the 4th quarter, we may have been able to put some daylight between ourselves and them and come out with the win but hindsight is a wonderful thing!
They had a very good win against Bristol last weekend, which means they will be on a high coming in here wanting to continue that run.
I am proud of our team for sticking together and fighting all the way to the end and coming back from being 20 points down at one point. It shows some great character and is a positive for later in the season. As hard as it is, we need to learn from that cup loss and move on. We have a lot of the season left and that now needs to be where our focus is to ensure we are performing at our best.
We have to make sure that we don’t come out ‘over hyped’ this week as all of us will be very keen to let out the frustration of last weekand settle our excitement and focus on really beating Surrey tonight for the full 40 minutes. I ask of you, as always, to continue to make as much noise as you did last week (especially in the fourth quarter where I almost went deaf) and really get behind the team. Please be our sixth man to get us back to winning ways! #WeRide

YOUTH SHINE Leicester Riders grabbed a good win at home against the Manchester Mystics today in the WBBL to improve to 4-3 in the Championship table
/loc8me
Leicester Riders women had a great beginning and started the game with 9-0 run in the first two minutes which forced Coach Rob Fairley to take a timeout. Riders showed good teamwork in defence and compelled Mystics to make 8 turnovers for ten minutes. Until the end of the first period Riders were dominating the court and took 19-7 lead in the second period.
contirbute well, nailling a pull-up jumpshot in the lane and a great floating layup. Riders started the second half with hesitation which gave a chance to Mystics to come back in the game. Manchester’s Shantrell Moss played great in offence and decreased Riders’ lead to only one point 2 minutes before the end of the third period.
@Loc8me_Lboro
In the next ten minutes Mystics tried to push more and catch up with Riders, but the duo Georgia Jones and Rheanne Bailey had other plans and did not allow them. As well, Heidi Tranter entered the game to
Georgia Elliot-King came off the bench to add valuable minutes, playing great defence and crashing the boards on top her signature shooting. The Charnwood College student knocked down too timely threes to help stun the Mystics’ runs in the fourth quarter. Until the end of the game the Estonian sisters Maaja and Maia
Bratka showed again that they dominate the area under the basket recording blocks and rebounds stopped the Mystics’ comeback and Riders took a 69-62 win. Head coach Matthew Harber was pleased with the win: “Pleased to have broken our losing streak against Manchester, and it’s never easy having such a quick turnaround after yesterday’s loss, but the girls got it done. We still have a lot of things to work on, but I’m confident we’re going to find some consistency soon.” Maaja Bratka had another great game and finished with a doubledouble of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Georgia Jones scored 14 points and Kastine Evans added 10.

JOURNEY CONTINUES
ANTHONY ROWE
JOURNEY CONTINUES Leicester Riders forward Anthony Rowe continues his journey back from a knee injury that saw him sidelined for the second half of the 2013/14 season. Rowe committed himself to the rehabilitation process from day one of the injury, pouring in countless hours in the pool, ice bath and weight room as the Brit looked to regain fitness on the court. Now, back with the team on a full time basis, the Riders forward continues to work with strength and conditioning coach Kico Pla to further strengthen and tune his body to perform at the highest level. In the mist of a summer of workout sessions, Anthony made the decision to return to his studies, enrolling on a masters degree at Loughborough University through the ongoing partnership with the Loughborough School of Business and Economics. As well as remembering the joys of learning in a University setting Rowe was made eligible for BUCS competition with Loughborough. Rowe has joined BBL teammates, Washington, Noel and Lamble to continue Loughborough’s positive form in the BUCS Premier competition, helping the side to victories over such teams as Sheffield and Worcester. BUCS features more BBL players each year providing Rowe with an opportunity to give back on the court to the University at the same time as gain valuable minutes against highlevel competition. The BBL season is now in full swing and Rowe is showing that his hard work in the summer is beginning to pay off, gaining more and more court time to help the Riders as the hectic schedule continues. Rowe will no doubt remain on the professional, hard working path as fans can once again enjoy the big man’s presence on court as he continues to contribute for the Riders.

Andre Arissol
ANDRE ARISSOL
NATIONAL TEAM CAMP Andre Arissol continues to develop during his time at Charnwood College’s Riders Basketball Academy. Now in his second year the Northampton native goes from strength to strength. Arissol produced consistant, dominant performances for the East Midlands squad at the Regional Tournament this summer, earning an invite to the England U18 National Team camp, the first National Team camp experience for the young guard. Since then Arissol has helped Charnwood College to a perfect record in the Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL) as well as leading the newly formed U18 Riders National League side to an undefeated start to the season. Following a successful camp the Riders Acadmey Student remains with the U18 Boy’s squad and upon return to Loughborough checked in with Riders Magazine. “Camp was very beneficial for me, being my first time going to England camp was a hard process. I knew that I would come up against tough players, but with help from my team mates and coach’s I was able to be confident going into the two day camp. The biggest thing I would take from camp is not to be nervous and do what you have been taught because I felt I had to go there and be a star to stance a chance of being selected. I realised quickly that doing what I know I can do and doing it at a high level was enough for me to strive throughout the two days. It was great to share the camp experience with Henry [Langton]. I was a lot more comfortable, because not going through this situation before with camp, I had someone there at all times and we helped each other a lot through the process of camp and came out successful. Charnwood has massively helped me develop this season, majority through my mentality and understanding that great players and people do what they need to do and do it all the time, and living by this enabled me to recognise my priorities and create a lot of opportunities for myself, on and off the court. Andre now returns to Charnwood to continue the U18 National League season and EABL play as he continues to develop and progress with the National Team.

EABL CUP
VICTORY
Charnwood College advanced to the second round of the EABL Cup with an 81-62 victory over Moulton College. Josh McSwiggwan led Charnwood to victory finishing with a game high 31 points, including a number of highlight dunks. “Josh was the difference maker for us today.” said Charnwood College Head Coach Josh Merrington. “Moulton caused us a lot of problems today at both ends of the floor, Josh made timely plays to keep us in front.” For Moulton Linas Bajournas was again impressive, scoring a team high 21 points. He was well supported by Carlo Nieva’s 12 and George Calvey’s 10. Hafeez Abdul scored 14 for Charnwood. Charnwood will host Myerscough next Wednesday whilst Moulton don’t play until the 3rd of December, again against Charnwood College.
