WELCOME Firstly, I’d like to welcome tonight’s guest’s, Glasgow Rocks, to the Sir David Wallace Arena here at the Loughborough University for tonight’s BBL Cup Qtr final game. We are defending our BBL Cup title after winning the Cup the last 2 years. Following tonight’s game if we are successful the Semi final dates have already been announced, so if we win tonight’s game please ensure you put in your diary, 12th December away and home on Thursday 18th December 7.30pm both games will be against Bristol Storm. They are home and away games with a aggrate score. The other semi final sees Newcastle Eagles VS Sheffield Sharks and the winners of both semi final games will play in the BBL Cup at the NIA - Sunday 11th January 2015 @ 3.30pm. Our WBBL team have started well at home but have struggled on the road with some hard way games in Nottingham, Cardiff and Sheffield. I highly recommend to

everyone you should come and watch our women’s team as they play some great basketball. A big shout out to our academy men’s and women’s teams based at Charnwood College who are both unbeaten in their EABL U19’s competition. Off the court In the community we have launched new satellite sessions and the Project Hub sites have started to be announced. TOGETHER Welcome to Loughbourough University and tonight’s Quarter-Final BBL Cup game vs Glasgow Rocks. These two teams are no stranger to each other as this will be the third time this season that we will have met. The previous two games were hard fought, competitive and entertaining. Today we expect nothing different. Last weekend was a game that came down to the last few plays of the game and fortunately for us we made the plays we needed to get the win. I think both teams will look back at that game and know that their is a lot to work on heading into today. We have studied the video and are hoping to improve on last week. We were happy with the contributions we received from our starters and our bench, we will need that again today if we want to win The winner of today’s game will have a chance to move one step closer to one of the best days in British basketball, the BBL Cup Final in Birmingham . We are hoping our fans can be involved from the moment the game begins, we need one of those “Playoff” atmospheres in here today Enjoy yourselves All the best Rob Paternostro

LAMBLE’S RAMBLE It has been a really positive start to the season for the Riders. If someone would have told me at the beginning of the season we would have a 7-1 record at this stage I would have been more than happy about it. We made some of changes the team made in the off-season I feel that just a single loss after 8 games is definitely a great start to the season and something we look forward to building on this weekend. The BBL championship has been put on hold for us this weekend as we host the only team that has beaten us this season in the BBL cup. We have already had two games against Glasgow this season, both away, but anyone who saw either of those games will fully appreciate the standard of the Rocks team this season. Both games have been very close and could have gone either way.

This cup obviously means a lot to the Riders as an organisation, after winning the title for the last two seasons, and it is not a cup we are willing to give up without a fight again this season. We know we have a way to go before that can happen but we take the floor to practice each day this week as we preapre to take another step closer I know as a team we want to get back to Birmingham this season and I’m sure as fans you are wishing for the same. We feel it is a reachable goal but it’s in these BBL Cup matches that we rely on the fans support more than ever to get behind us, as I know you do week in and week out, but now it’s time to put those voices through their paces! Let us hear you raise the roof off the Sir David Wallace as #WeRide into battle once again.

YOUTH SHINE Leicester Riders grabbed a good win at home against the Manchester Mystics today in the WBBL to improve to 4-3 in the Championship table Leicester Riders women had a great beginning and started the game with 9-0 run in the first two minutes which forced Coach Rob Fairley to take a timeout. Riders showed good teamwork in defence and compelled Mystics to make 8 turnovers for ten minutes. Until the end of the first period Riders were dominating the court and took 19-7 lead in the second period. In the next ten minutes Mystics tried to push more and catch up with Riders, but the duo Georgia Jones and Rheanne Bailey had other plans and did not allow them. As well, Heidi Tranter entered the game to

contirbute well, nailling a pull-up jumpshot in the lane and a great floating layup. Riders started the second half with hesitation which gave a chance to Mystics to come back in the game. Manchester’s Shantrell Moss played great in offence and decreased Riders’ lead to only one point 2 minutes before the end of the third period. Georgia Elliot-King came off the bench to add valuable minutes, playing great defence and crashing the boards on top her signature shooting. The Charnwood College student knocked down too timely threes to help stun the Mystics’ runs in the fourth quarter. Until the end of the game the Estonian sisters Maaja and Maia

Bratka showed again that they dominate the area under the basket recording blocks and rebounds stopped the Mystics’ comeback and Riders took a 69-62 win. Head coach Matthew Harber was pleased with the win: “Pleased to have broken our losing streak against Manchester, and it’s never easy having such a quick turnaround after yesterday’s loss, but the girls got it done. We still have a lot of things to work on, but I’m confident we’re going to find some consistency soon.” Maaja Bratka had another great game and finished with a doubledouble of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Georgia Jones scored 14 points and Kastine Evans added 10.

LOUGHBOROUGH STUDENTS

DANCE Leicester Riders are joined today by Loughborough Students Dance Club (LSDC) for performances at half-time and game breaks throughout the game. The student-based dance group performed in the Riders opening return to Loughborough University three seasons ago and have since grown in expertise and size to be one of the biggest student organisations in Loughborough University hosting the largest annual University Dance Competition in the country. Nikki Ramos-Clarkson commented on behalf of LSDC ahead of next weekend’s match up against the Rocks. “It is such a privaledge for our club to be able to support such a well established and historically significant team. Collaborating with the Leicester Riders is a truly great experience for LSDC and we hope to be able to continuously give our best efforts when performing at their games!”

Charnwood College advanced to the second round of the EABL Cup with an 81-62 victory over Moulton College. Josh McSwiggwan led Charnwood to victory finishing with a game high 31 points, including a number of highlight dunks. “Josh was the difference maker for us today.” said Charnwood College Head Coach Josh Merrington. “Moulton caused us a lot of problems today at both ends of the floor, Josh made timely plays to keep us in front.” For Moulton Linas Bajournas was again impressive, scoring a team high 21 points. He was well supported by Carlo Nieva’s 12 and George Calvey’s 10. Hafeez Abdul scored 14 for Charnwood. Charnwood will host Myerscough next Wednesday whilst Moulton don’t play until the 3rd of December, again against Charnwood College.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT My name is Barry James Webster, I am part of the Loughborough Student Riders Division Two team and Loughborough Universityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s BUCS first team. I chose Loughborough, is because the programme is constantly improving and is the best University for sport in the country with the facilities and staff to back it up, also I am originally from Leicester and have been living locally for about six years now. I first started playing basketball when I was 16 but didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t take it serious until I transferred schools to attend Charnwood College, then Burleigh Community College at the age of 18 when the AASE project was first introduced, this gave me the opportunity to play everyday and be coached by Rob Paternostro. After finishing at burleigh (Charnwood) I went to the America to play for 2 years, my first year I played at a top 25 school in the nation, in my second year I went to a junior college top 10 school in the nation In my six years of playing basketball I have played tournaments in France, played all over the east coast and Central of America and had the opportunity to play against players in that are currently in the NBA. The opportunities that Loughborough provide me for both education and basketball are exciting and what drives me to be better. I look forward to the opportunities this season holds and working with my teammates and coaches.
