Der »Kronenpalast«, um 1648 fertig gestellt, ist ein Symbol für die ewige Liebe des Kaisers Schah Jahan zu seiner Gattin und Lieblingsfrau seines Harems, Arjumand Bano Begum.

Sie starb 1631 im Wochenbett. Damals wurden Perlen, Korallen und Edelsteine von Hand verarbeitet. Heute wäre es unmöglich, diesen Bau noch einmal zu erstellen. Das Taj Mahal

wird jährlich von gut vier Millionen Menschen besucht. An dessen Baustil orientierten sich die Architekten des Luxus-Resorts »The Oberoi« in Agra. Die Gartenanlagen des Hotels setzten sich scheinbar übergangslos in den Gärten des Mausoleums fort. Pavillons, kunstvolle Schnitzund Einlegearbeiten, handgewebte Tapeten lassen die Hotelgäste den Zauber des Orients, wie in einer Erzählung aus 1001 Nacht, nacherleben. Das Taj Mahal liegt 600 Meter vom Resort entfernt. Wechselnde Lichtstimmungen verzaubern immer wieder. In Udaipur (Rajastan) liegt, wie ein königlicher Palast das Resort »The Oberoi Udaivilas« .Udaipur, einst Sitz einer der ältesten Dynastien der Welt, der Herrscherfamilie Mewar, ist eines der beliebtesten Reiseziele Indiens. Rund um den Pichola See liegen verschiedene Paläste, die an die bedeutende Vergangenheit erinnern.

The artisanal skills reflected in the various Oberoi establishments date back to the days when one of northern India's best-known landmarks took shape in Agra in the state of Uttar Pradesh: the Taj Mahal, perhaps the most beautiful mausoleum in the world. Completed in 1648, the »crown palace« is a symbol of the eternal love of emperor Shah Jahan for his favorite wife, Arjumand Banu Begum. Arjumand died while giving birth in 1631. In those days, pearls, corals and precious stones were set and mounted by hand. Today, it would be inconceivable to reproduce such a stunning monument.

Some four million people visit the Taj Mahal every year; and the architects who built the luxury resort »The Oberoi« in Agra clearly took their cue from the style of the mausoleum.

Jaipur is home to another of India's most celebrated edifices, the »Palace of Winds«, which was built of red and pink sandstone by a maharaja in 1799. Hidden safely behind the intricate balcony facades, the women in the great ruler's harem were able to watch the goings-on out on the street undetected.

In Udaipur, also in the state of Rajasthan, »The Oberoi Udaivilas« could easily be mistaken for a royal palace. Once the seat of the Mewar family, one of the world's oldest dynasties, Udaipur is today one of India's most popular travel destinations. An assortment of (genuine) palaces are dotted around Lake Pichola, evoking the region's illustrious past. One part of the biggest of these complexes, the former residence of the Mewar maharajas, currently serves as a museum, testifying to a bygone golden age when history was written and monarchs ruled in regal splendor. Several scenes from the James Bond film »Octopussy« were also shot in Udaipur. The rankings published by numerous internationally renowned travel journals, such as Condé Nast Traveller and Forbes, have long since singled out the 87-room-and-suite »The Oberoi Udai­ vilas« as one of the best hotels in the world.

The Bengal tiger is the pride of India, and both the movements and population of this »royal« feline are monitored electronically. Ranthambore National Park is also home to other wild animals such as leopards, hyenas and jackals, several species of deer, gazelles and antelopes, and a variety of birds. In 1834, the Greek government decided to tear down the medieval fort on the hill and bring the ancient ruins of the millennia-old Acropolis out of retirement. What followed was an endless saga of renovation, reconstruction, destruction and renewed reconstruction.

Especially in the years after 1976, the project became an issue of national importance. To this day, specially trained archaeologists have not let up in their daily efforts to remedy the damage of the past and return this national monument to its former glory.

Unvorstellbar die Menge an Artefakten, welche die Archäologen in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten aus der Erde beförderten. Schnell war klar, dass das kleine Museum auf dem Felsen dieser nicht Herr werden würde. The sheer volume of artifacts that archaeologists have recovered here in recent decades defies belief. Prior to the first White Turf race Sunday, the St. Moritz Racing Association organised on Friday evening, 6th February 2015, a new and fascinating night race event: the ‘Night Turf’.

The Night Turf will be a magnificent funfair event with free admission to the lake and to the grandstand seats. It will be the first time that a nighttime event has occurred, with noble race horses fighting for fame and glory on the frozen lake of St. Moritz. Besides a celebrity Skikjöring, three trotting races with two semi-finals and a final, as well as a sprint race will be on the programme. In addition to the thrilling racing events that will take place on the illuminated straight directly in front of the grandstands, all visitors can look forward to a

spectacular show entitled ‘Light and Fire’! During the breaks between races, it will be possible to warm up and to savour culinary and musical specialities in the heated tents.

Die St. Moritzer Unternehmerin Eveline Fasser Testa und die Tourismusorganisation Engadin St. Moritz haben die Idee entwickelt, Raumdüfte für St. Moritz und für das Engadin zu lancieren.

Die Unternehmerin lanciert nun die Duftlinie INVIERN – entwickelt vom Parfümeur Geza Schön, der als Avantgardist der Duftwelt gilt.

Die Nase ist sein Kapital: In seinem Berliner Labor schafft Parfumeur Geza Schön Düfte für grosse Marken und Individualisten. »Es war eine reizvolle Aufgabe für mich, den Duft für St. Moritz zu entwickeln. Die Aufgabenstellung, wie zum Beispiel die kühle Winterluft nachzubilden, war anspruchsvoll. Umso glücklicher bin ich mit dem Ergebnis unserer Zusammenarbeit.« Die Aufgabe von Geza Schön war, einen St. Moritz-typischen Duft zu entwickeln, welcher das schillernde St. Moritz widerspiegelt sowie das Thema Winter aufnimmt. Gleichzeitig werden der Bezug zu St. Moritz und die Einzigartigkeit des Produktes unterstrichen. Der erste Raumduft INVIERN wird ab Winter 2014 im ausgesuchten St. Moritzer Handel sowie über das Internet erhältlich sein. Weitere Produkte und Düfte, welche die Einzigartigkeit von St. Moritz und dem Engadin wiedergeben, sind geplant.

«Sinneseindrücke können durch einen Duft verstärkt und verankert werden – Düfte können damit Emotionen transportieren. It is to be launched on the occasion of the »150 years Winter Tourism« jubilee and is available both as diffuser and scented candle.

The St. Moritz entrepreneur, Eveline Fasser Testa, and the tourism organisation, Engadin St.Moritz, developed the idea of launching room fragrances for St.Moritz. Mrs Fasser Testa is now about to introduce the fragrance line INVIERN – developed by perfumer Geza Schön, widely regarded in the perfume world as avant-garde His nose is his capital. In his Berlin laboratory perfumer Geza Schön creates fragrances for major brands and individualists.. »It was a wonderful and exciting challenge to create a fragrance for St.Moritz. The assignment to capture the cold winter air was very challenging. I am very pleased with the result of our collaboration.« When famed perfumer GEZA SCHÖN was asked to create the scent of St. Moritz, he sought inspiration on long walks through snowy landscapes, vast forests, the brisk feel of the slopes and quaint atmosphere of the villages.

The name INVIERN means »winter« in RhaetoRomanic; with this name the Rhaeto-Romanic culture and language will be carried out into the wider world. At the same time the associations with St. Moritz and the uniqueness of the product will be underlined. The first room fragrance INVIERN will be available from winter 2014 at

selected outlets in St. Moritz as well as via the Internet. Further products and fragrances are being designed and will also reflect the uniqueness of St. Moritz and the Engadine.

The resort is a gourmet's dream, home to fine dining restaurants such as Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, the only all-glass undersea restaurant in the world. Culinary highlights are Malosoll imperial caviar, Maldivian lobster, kingfish and reef fish tartar. I enjoyed very much the Japanese inspired dishes at Koko Grill together with champagne and lovely white wines. In the resort it is easy to forget the hazzle and the tribulation of modernized life when you are faced with such relaxed beauty. Das á-la-carte Restaurant »Asian Wok« ist auf Stelzen über dem Wasser gebaut. Mir gefiel besonders das »Hot Rock« Restaurant, hier konnte man sich feinsten Lobster, Reef Fish und Octopus selbst zubereiten. Nur Zitronen, Chili, Salz und Pfeffer als Begleitung für mich. Einfach herrlich.

Dazu ein schöner Weisswein von den besten Lagen Neusselands. Ein Restaurantbesuch der auch ausgewiesene Feinschmecker zum Schwärmen bringt.

Beide Resort boten Genuss in Perfektion. Die Reise hat riesigen Spass gemacht, ich komme bald wieder. â

the Meeru Island Resort & Spa. A speedboat took us from Malé International Airport to the resort in less than 1 hour. The resort is based on one of the larger island of the Maldives. It is 1,2 kilometer long and 350 meters wide on the edge of the atoll with a lagoon, fine beaches and even a 9-hole »Pitch and Putt« golf course.

To play here was terrific Golf with a celebrity factor. Besides this the Meeru Island Resort has plenty to see and do, further activities include tennis, badminton, a nice gym and of course a great dive centre, with a school and outings to dozens of dive and snorkeling sites. We enjoyed a great sunset dolphin-watching cruise with many lovely dolfin as companions. It is one of the largest resorts in the country and it is split into three distinct zones, each based around a reception, bar, lounge and restaurants two of them with a beautiful pool. It offers a friendly warm atmosphere and pleasant staff which looks all the time after you. The 286 rooms include 77 Jacuzzi water and 77 beach villas, garden rooms and honeymoon suites, attractively decorated in tropical style, with pale wood walls, bright cushions and wood floors. Some have partially outdoor bathrooms, some have a private hot tub, and the more expensive categories are on the best beaches. All rooms have a private terrace. Of all the improvements over the years on Meeru Island resort one of the biggest and most obvious is the cuisine. The buffet

at breakfast, lunch and dinner of well-presented regional Asian-influenced, international dishes, served in two restaurants. Really although the most things are imported in a extraordinarily good quality. My favourite dinner place was the »Hot Rock Restaurant & Bar« with the option to grill my lobster, fish and meat in my own style.

I realized a perfect delicious arrangement by myself with lots of chili, ginger, lemon and a lovely white wine from the grand Cru’s of New Zealand. Later on we enjoyed Kakuni and Dhoni Bar with a great view on the Indian Ocean.

I will be back soon. Both locations are enjoyment in perfection.
