The interior venues are positioned on either side of a central stage, which allows both to be utilized simultaneously for large events. ARCH5301_ecoMOD SEMINAR_FALL 2013
(noun)
a) make a similar or exact copy of something
As a continuation of the ecoMOD research agenda at the University of Virginia, the ecoSHED was a design-build venture aimed at helping people in low-income neighborhoods build an improved alternate shed than those typically purchased. It is designed so that a similar 4’ x 8’ module may be used for the floor and wall panels, allowing for different arrangements of the shed according to the needs of the owner. This not only allows for customization but also for replicability by the average homeowner.

SWISS_LANTERN il•lu•mi•nate
ARCH7230_DSGN DEVELOPMENT_SPRING 2014
(verb)
a) to infuse with light b) to clarify or explain
The Swiss Lantern is an artist studio which looks at the intersection between wood construction and daylight quality of a space. While the lower portion of the studio consists of well-insulated stacked timber beams, the tensile roof is more delecate in nature, providing the room with daylight from the top. The quality of this light was strategically developed using ecotect software to include indirect light and exclude direct light. Potential issues in detailing wood construction were identified and addressed.
