Český lettrista, grafik, malíř a sochař Eduard Ovčáček je známý pestrou rozmanitostí médií a technik, které ke své tvorbě využívá. Nyní představuje méně známou, ale o to zajímavější oblast svého díla, kterou sám nazývá fotografika. Stejnojmenná publikace, která právě vychází, pojednává o této autorově originální technice, ve které kombinuje fotografické a grafické principy. Historie fotografiky sahá až do počátku šedesátých let minulého století, kdy se v rodícím se proudu informelu před Ovčáčkem otevřela cesta ke strukturální a lettristické fotografii. Tehdy vytváří soubory vizuální poezie, pro jejichž reprodukci využívá film. Ten potom klade kontaktně na fotopapír, na nějž následně exponuje fragmenty ženských těl.
Tak vzniká unikátní sendvičová technika, fotografika, kterou autor dále rozvíjí a zdokonaluje. V posledních dvou dekádách do hry vstupuje digitální technologie, kterou Ovčáček přijímá za svou a díky níž získává fotografika nové, nečekané možnosti a podoby. Publikace FOTOGRAFIKA vychází s doprovodnými texty Ilony Víchové a Martina Mikoláška a obsahuje více než 200 černobílých a barevných reprodukcí. The Czech lettrist artist Eduard Ovčáček who employs himself in the graphic arts, sculpture and painting is commonly known for using a variety of media and techniques in his work. Now he is coming to present his photographic work that is not so much familiar but worthy of remark. The book which has just appeared is called Photographics. It shows a wide-ranging series of the pictures accompanied by several expert references of Ovčáček‘s original technique which combines photographic and graphic qualities. The history of Photographics began in the 1960s when the newborn Art Informel led Ovčáček along the path to the structural and lettrist photography. At that time Ovčáček was creating the series of his visual poetry using a photographic film as a medium for further image processing and copying. He placed individual positives or negatives on photo paper, and with this paper he then exposed images of fragments of women‘s bodies.
This gave birth to the sandwich technique, sonamed for the way the positives and negatives are layered on top of each other. Such process brought Photographics in the being. It has been developed by its author since then. The last two decades a digital technique opened up a new field of activity for Ovčáček‘s creativity and his experimentally-based artistic mentality. Thanks to it, the Photographics has acquired a modern look and a surprising potential for its diversity and variability. Besides Ovčáček‘s own commentary on his work and two professional texts written by Ilona Víchová and Martin Mikolášek, the book Photographics includes more than 200 black and white photos incl. few colour ones. It was published by the Faculty of Arts of Ostrava University in the end of 2014. Number of copies: 500 in total, 250 pages (240 x 280 mm). ISBN 978-80-7464-685-0
