DC TANGO FESTIVAL MOVIE NIGHT: I TITA, A LIFE OF TANGO April 14 Embassy of Argentina 1600 New Hampshire Avenue, NW
The night features María Teresa Costantini’s biopic of renowned dancer and artist Tita Merello through the beginning of her career as a cabaret performer in Buenos Aires through her discovery and rise through theater and film. The actress who plays Tita, Mercedes Fuentes, perfectly portrays the larger-than-life star. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles. This event is free to the public, however, registration and photo ID is required. The doors will open at 6pm and close at 6:30pm. Dress is casual.
BALASZ FÜLEI May 22 Embassy of Hungary 3910 Shoemaker Street, NW
As one of the most sought after Bartók pianists, Balasz Fülei has performed all over the globe. In Vietnam, he was the first Hungarian musician to play Bartók works. He gave his first solo performance at the young age of 12 where he decided that he wanted to pursue a career in music. Fülei studied at the Liszt Academy, where he now is the Head of the Department of Chamber Music. The program will include Claude Debussy: Estampes; César Franck: Prélude, Choral et Fuge; Ludwig van Beethoven: Sonatat in f minor, Op. 57 (“Appassionata”); Franz Liszt: Venezia e Napoli. There will be a Hungarian buffet, including wine, and a reception following the performance. Tickets are $125 and the event will be from 7:00pm-945pm. Dress code is business.

AROUND THE WORLD EMBASSY OPEN HOUSE
May 2 Dupont Circle Station 1525 20th Street, NW
On Saturday May 2nd, more than 50 embassies will open their doors to DC visitors and residences. Participants will be able to travel the world as they experience the food, art and culture of many countries. The embassies will open at 10am and close at 4pm. DC History and Culture will be leading a tour, which can be found by searching their name in Facebook. The event is free to the public and does not require registration. The tour group will be meeting at 9am at the Dupont Circle Station.
