Remember when people thought that topics like science, robotics, or math were for nerds? Now, these areas are what fuel our digital world and develop some of the coolest innovations that civilization has ever seen. In this college, our students are engineering the future of medicine, computer technology and electronics. Some are designing fully functional robots, configuring websites or developing the visual identities of brands. Others are learning how to protect the world from cyber threats and identity theft, or how to build a digital marketing strategy that will help a business thrive. But what drives all of these students is a passion for changing the world by solving problems through design, strategy and innovation.
— Deana Marzocchi, associate professor and department chair, Graphic Design “Technology keeps growing and evolving each day. And it’s awesome knowing that I’m right in the middle of it. This is an industry that continues to grow. It’s not going to disappear, it’s getting stronger.”
“Our grads will be ready to enter the workforce to design new devices, create new applications for biomaterials, and work with surgeons to improve surgical systems and interfaces.”

“I like the fact that, at Johnson & Wales, our students in the health science department represent the world; they are incredibly diverse. We have such a huge portion of first-generation students and such a huge portion of racial and ethnic minority students. I see it as a great opportunity for me to train, mentor, motivate and inspire students from all backgrounds.”
“I picked JWU because I’m able to talk directly with each teacher. I would rather have a personal relationship with a professor than be a number … I enjoyed the teachers that I had. It was a very helpful experience, especially thanks to the people in my departments. Professors Rosenthal, Noel and Sammartino were really amazing.”

Learn more In today’s world, health is more important than ever. We’re on a mission to help make the world a healthier place, and it all starts with selective programs and smaller class sizes to provide the one-on-one, hands-on education that future health workers will need to deliver the best patient care.
Here, students discover that food can be both fuel and medicine in Dietetics and Applied Nutrition. They study Exercise and Sports Science to learn how to heal injuries and train athletes with a holistic approach. And, they’re even leading the charge to improve community health and prevent disease in the Public Health program. Every program in the college offers the skills needed to pursue a wide variety of career options within the field. The possibilities are endless, and with Competitive Pathways and Accelerated Program options into graduate and doctoral programs such as Occupational Therapy or Physician Assistant Studies, you can take your education further and earn degrees faster to get into the field and start making a difference.
— Samantha Rosenthal, Ph.D., M.P.H., associate professor, Health Science “We have a lot of free electives. A lot of our students take courses in areas such as political science, and I kind of push them to think about what they want, because I want them to explore different areas that they didn’t realize actually touch on health.”

“[Students] know they want to do something in sports, but they don’t really know what that means. I walk them through that journey and provide an awareness of what the different roles are. They learn about positions in community relations, marketing, sales, operations — all of those different areas that they’ve either never heard of or didn’t understand what they are.”

If you’ve ever thought about traveling the world, planning big events or managing a prestigious hotel, this college is the place for you.
As a global leader in hospitality education, JWU sets the bar high when it comes to what we have to offer. We’ve created world-class beverage labs to study Beverage Sales & Marketing Management. We’ve developed powerful industry partnerships that provide Hotel & Resort Management and Sports, Entertainment, Event — Management students with tons of internship opportunities. And, we’ve sent Tourism & Hospitality Management students around the world to places like Egypt, Morocco and India on Familiarization Tours to help them hone their craft while spreading their wings. This college combines the free-spirited energy of adventurers with the organization and thoughtfulness of those who love to plan experiences for people to enjoy.
THE JWU DIFFERENCE: PROGRAMS BUILT FOR DISCOVERY AND ACTION “Being hospitable is an empathetic mindset that involves having a set of traits, skills and aptitudes to make another person feel truly welcomed and valued. Hospitality management is a career field in which the focus is on addressing the intangible experiences of the customer alongside the tangible elements.”
“You can sit in a classroom all day, read your textbook, take a test — but having hands-on experience is so beneficial to your learning and your education here at JWU. You’re able to really tackle what you’re learning in class and do it yourself. It’s unique to any other classroom setting you’ll ever be in.”
