In 2023 the Buxton Military Tattoo will once again be bringing some of the United Kingdom’s finest bands for a spectacular performance inside the Devonshire Dome. Loved by families, residents and visitors alike, the Tattoo raises thousands of pounds for ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity.

Take a trip down the nation’s most famed street, on a guided tour which takes in Coronation Street, Rosamund Street and Victoria Street. A chance to step on to the largest working television set in the country and be immersed in the familiar surroundings of the Rovers Return, Roy’s Rolls, Underworld and The Kabin. Hear filming secrets, take a selfie on the street and follow in the footsteps of your favourite characters down those Coronation Street cobbles.

Saturday We drive direct to Buxton, where after free time for lunch, we take our seats for the 2.00pm performance of the Military Tattoo. The venue is the Devonshire Dome. A magnificent 18th century stable block originally built by the 5th Duke of Devonshire to house visitor’s horses and servants, and it offers a breathtaking setting for the Buxton Military Tattoo. This magnificent building gives an audience the opportunity to experience the powerful spectacle of The Buxton Military Tattoo, closer to the action and the bands than at any other tattoo in the country, and as a bonus… protected from the vagaries of the British weather!! After the performance, we continue to Derby in time for dinner and our overnight stay.

Sunday After breakfast we visit the magnificent National Memorial Arboretum, which comprises 150 acres of trees and over 150 memorials of national significance; you can cover as much or as little of the site as you wish. The Arboretum is the home of the Armed Forces Memorial, which is a striking and emotive memorial, which gives recognition and thanks for those who have died whilst on duty or as a result of terrorist action since the Second World War and acknowledges the enduring sacrifice of those who mourn their loss. We return home during the late afternoon.

Friday En-route to our hotel we pause at Trentham Gardens – Trentham is a special place with 725 acres of spectacular natural beauty and home to award-winning Gardens, glorious ancient woodland and a unique outdoor shopping village. From the tranquillity of the garden and wildlife walks to the wonder of the Monkey Forest and the thrill of Treetop Adventures, there really is something for everyone at Trentham. From here we continue to our hotel for our 2-night stay.
Saturday This morning we travel to Salford Quays and Media City where you will find a wealth of world-class entertainment, leisure and cultural facilities on offer including the Imperial War Museum North and the Lowry. Free time to explore before making our way to the ITV Studios for our Coronation Street Tour. Explore Coronation Streets’ famous cobbles as you stroll past the Roy’s Rolls Café or check out Kev’s car shop, Webster’s Auto Centre. Wander past the ‘Kabin’, see the most action-packed pub in the North West, The Rovers Return.
Sunday Today we visit Jodrell Bank – a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is a must for anyone interested in space and the night sky. There is a wealth of things to discover with the centre of attraction being the Grade I listed Lovell Telescope. However, there are many indoor and outdoor exhibits to engage with too – Visit the First Light Pavilion and the beautiful 130 seat planetarium with a 30-minute immersive show of the night sky which is included in your admission.
Best Western Cresta Court Hotel is a stylish, contemporary hotel in Altrincham. All bedrooms are en-suite and have television, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift.
