Set against the magnificent backdrop of Auckland Castle, County Durham. This 90minute KYNREN show begins at dusk and ends in starlight. The show takes the audiences on a journey through 2,000 years of British history, myth and legend at breakneck speed. Encompassing the Roman occupation. Both World Wars. Viking and Norman invasions, medieval feasts, Tudor times, The English Civil War, the Georgian Renaissance, Industrial Revolution and Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in between. This short break allows you to experience the magic, history and spectacle of KYNREN for yourself.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Friday We travel north via a stop in Thirsk. Famous for the World of James Herriot. Essentially unchanged and uninfluenced by the world, it centres around a bustling cobbled market square, dominated by the town clock. From here we continue north to our hotel in County Durham for dinner and our 3-night stay. Saturday A morning visit to explore the captivating city of Durham with its winding, cobbled streets, by the dramatic Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site –one of the most stunning city panoramas in Europe. Following an early dinner at the hotel, we make our way to Auckland Castle for the show. As dusk turns to darkness, Kynren takes you on a spellbinding voyage through history, myth and legend. (Deluxe Seats included).

Sunday Today, we visit Beamish Open-Air Museum – a living museum which tells the story of life in North East England in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times. Monday Departing after breakfast we drive to the historic city of York. After some free time to explore, we commence our return journey, arriving home during the evening.

A beautiful Jacobean country manor dating back to 1744. Standing in 150 acres of Durham countryside, the hotel combines traditional elegance with contemporary style. We head to the delightful Welsh Capital for a fabulous weekend break staying in the very heart of the city. Sunday We journey south west to the fascinating St Fagan’s Natural History Museum (Free Entry). Located on the outskirts of the city, it is one of Europe’s leading open-air museums with exhibits from Celtic times to the present day and tells the story of how Welsh people lived through the ages. In the afternoon we continue to our hotel for our 2-night stay.

Monday A morning at leisure for shopping or to explore the city centre. You might like to visit the castle with its Norman Mote and tower, and the fine 19th century state apartments. In the afternoon we visit the attractive Cardiff Bay waterfront area with its old wharfs, new piers and glass fronted restaurants. Here you’ll be free to discover the impressive Welsh Assembly buildings, the iconic Welsh Millennium Centre and the pretty Norwegian Church Art Centre.

Tuesday Departing after breakfast we enjoy a guided tour of the Royal Mint Experience. Our tour gives you unprecedented access to the Royal Mint and its history. Go behind the scenes to discover a whole world of coinage from over 100 countries including our very own pounds and pence. We return home during the afternoon.

Enjoying a prime location in the heart of Cardiff, close to Cardiff Castle and the Millennium Stadium. Restaurant, bar, lounge/reception area. Mobility Grade: 4.
