tive and inventive way of discovering new products and pampering methods which is why I’m thrilled to be in the JolieMag this month!

22, Law Student and fashion blogger at notsobasicfashion.blogspot.com

Tell us about your background?

What beauty products do you tend to reach for on a daily basis?

I started my fashion blog, notsobasicfashion, about a year ago as way of sharing my shopping addiction with other fashion lovers. I fell in love with the blogger world and after browsing my favourite blogs on a daily basis my shopping problem definitely worsened. Strangely enough, my job isn’t based in fashion or beauty - I’m actually training to be a solicitor!

The products I reach for on a daily basis are my Rose and Almond Vaseline as I love the tint it gives to my lips without being heavy in any way. I also couldn’t live without my eyebrow pencil. You could take away my foundation, blush and mascara but I could never leave the house without having filled in my brows as I really feel they frame a person’s face.

What makes you the ultimate JolieSta? I like to think my obsession with clothes and beauty means I’m a JolieSta (what an honour!). Beauty regimes, pampering and shopping are up there in my favourite activities and JolieBox is such a crea-

JOLIESTA OF THE MONTH GABRIELLA McCOY

What are your three favourite beauty purchases of all time?

Where do you like to shop for beauty products?

My three favourite beauty products of all time are definitely my Lancôme Hydra Zen Skincare Set (I have a five step nightly regime which is ridiculously excessive but has become habit now), Mac Hue Lipstick as it’s the perfect colour for dressing up or down and is so easy to wear. And finally my YSL Touche Eclat as it hides a multitude of sins and illuminates perfectly. My Mum swears by Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair so maybe I’ll try that out soon.

JOLIEMAG

I’m a sucker for the Selfridges and Harvey Nichols beauty halls in London. They’re so pretty and like a maze - it’s impossible to leave there empty handed. I also love heading to Boots for my basics. Sephora in America is the dream; I wish they’d bring it over here.

JOLIEPLACE NAILGIRLS, LONDON

Nailgirls Salon Tucked away in leafy Islington is the eye catching, pink and black decadently dressed, buzzing beauty salon Nailgirls. The place for all your beauty needs and to stock up on their latest own brand Nailgirls colours! The walls stacked high with a rainbow of shades, clients chattering away in the corner and a team of friendly trained nail technicians waiting to transform your weary hands – it’s a nail lovers heaven.

Just from chatting with Lynda and Jo it’s clear to see that they both love beauty but are most passionate about their unique chemical-free Nailgirls colours which are used exclusively in their salon. Their colours are created in a superior formula, free from any harmful chemicals. That includes toluene, formaldehyde, DBP; they’re not tested on animals, are vegan friendly and the packaging is recyclable.

Created by two sisters, Lynda and Jo, the Nailgirls salon is place for both them and their clients to be indulged in their weekly beauty treats. Having worked as a Fashion Editor and Stylist in New York for 11 years, Lynda couldn’t live without her weekly manipedi. Upon returning to the UK, both Lynda and Jo realised that London was lacking in walk-in nail spas that offered affordable luxury, in an impeccably clean and ethical environment. They needed somewhere special to provide that weekly treat – so Nailgirls was born!

JOLIEMAG

All sounding good? Well it gets better! This dynamic sister act are a dream team when it comes designing the shades of the Nailgirls line. Jo is the brains behind the business, whereas Lynda is the creator of the colours. Using her experience in the fashion field she scrutinises each runway show making sure that a trend lead set of colours join the Nailgirls line for a limited time each season.

JOLIEQUESTION SUMMER BODY GLOW

What products give that Summer body glow? It gets to that time each year where we have to let go of the jeans and succumb to the fact that it’s now skirt wearing season. Our limbs haven’t seen the light of day since last September so a quick session of body DIY is needed. But don’t panic as we have the perfect Summer ready body routine to get your glow on and have you strutting around in a skirt in no time.

butter, oil and crushed almond shells to leave the skin feeling soft, smooth and delicately fragranced. For those who prefer a more intense exfoliation then try the Elemis Body Brush which helps to kick-start circulation and improve cellulite whilst smoothing the skin. The next most important step of the Summer body routine is moisturising. The sun, sea and sand can dry out skin and leave it looking dull and lacklustre, so slather on rich creams to inject some sheen. Soap and Glory’s The Righteous Butter is unrivalled in its delicious scent and deeply moisturising properties but for those with sensitive skin the nourishing and unfragranced Kiehls Crème de Corps lotion is a great alternative.

The key to achieving that beach bronzed glow is all in the prep. There’s nothing like a good scrub down of the body to boost circulation, get rid of any dead skin cells and leave an ideal base for any tanning products. Our favourite scrub to use in the bath or shower is the L’Occitane Almond Delicious Paste which contains almond

JOLIEQUESTION SUMMER BODY GLOW

False tanners can seem daunting, but if you wish to enhance your natural tan and add a bit of colour, applied correctly they can be your Summer secret weapon! Remember to exfoliate before and apply with either your hands or a mitt evenly all over the body. Xen-Tan Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe provides a deep, yet natural colour and can last up to 10 days on the skin making it great choice to indulge in pre-holiday. Or something for the more false-tan shy is the Garnier Summerbody Lotion that can be applied and built up daily, plus it acts as a body moisturiser too.

JOLIEMAG

When baring your limbs a little finishing touch goes a long way. This is probably the quickest part of the routine and can be dealt with just before you race out the door for the beach! If a wash off false tanner is more your thing then pick up the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs which can be used all over to even out your skintone and add a touch of colour. Or to add a sexy sheen to your body apply the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse OR all over for a glistening finishing touch. So grab that skirt and strut with pride as you’ve now got that Summer body glow! Oh la la!

JOLIEPERSON ASMA DOCRAT

Asma Docrat CEO of Boudoir Lashes, Beauty Therapist & Eyelash Technician

What is your job? Where do I start, I like to enhance what people have without the need for surgery. You can’t change what nature has given to you so the only way you can ‘make yourself better’ is by enhancing your best assets and working with what you have. There is no point in just focusing on your beauty regime. By modifying and defining your brows whether it be by tinting and shaping, can truly change your face.

What is your background? My background is creative; I have a good eye for detail and fine intricate work hence my fascination with eyelash extensions! My cultural roots are a mixture of both east and western ideals and I guess my inspiration is drawn from both.

Describe a typical day at work for you. There is no typical day, it can change like the weather, however I spend most of my time now doing eyelash extensions. I could be working a 14hrs day to just a couple of hours. The days where I finish early I go for a massage, shop or simply chill with my friends.

What are your favourite beauty products?

Where is your favourite place to go shopping for beauty products?

I cannot live without a good shampoo I’m currently using a range by Ogario and its fab! SPF in my skincare, a black khol liner, BECCA Luminous Skin Colour in Toast and BECCA Cheek Crèmes are all must-haves for me. At the moment I also love Cowshed’s Udderly Gorgeous Stretch Mark Cream – don’t laugh! It’s full of beautiful nourishing ingredients and smells divine. I use it all over my body, not just on my wobbly bits!

This varies depending on what I want. I quite like to shop online as it saves time. If I need to test something beforehand then I go and visit Space NK or Selfridges. I normally stock up on beauty products at the professional beauty shows too as they always have new products.

What is your best beauty tip? I have a few and swear by them, but the one I stick to the most is removing all my makeup before bed. Use facial oils at night time and sleep! It’s the best way to relax and rejuvenate. I always have one day a week where I don’t set the alarm!

1 You don’t need to sun yourself on the beaches of Hawaii or catch the rays while taking in the sights of Rome. Just four simple steps will instantly give your makeup that ‘just back from holiday’ look!

To brighten up the look, apply a peach or coral blush shade to the apples of your cheeks.

After evening out your complexion, take a matte bronzing powder on a large fluffy brush and apply in a ‘3’ motion to each side of your face; taking the powder over your forehead, on the tops of your cheekbones and under the jawline.

Complete the look with a sheer wash of coral lipstick.

Then apply a liquid highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones and under the arch of your brow to give your skin a glowing and radiant finish.

Now it’s time to hit la plage!

I coat my skin with this after I get out of the sun. It’s just so cooling and leaves me feeling nice and refreshed after a long day down the beach.

Being a bit of a false tanning addict I don’t like to sit out in the sun, but if I do I apply this after, it replenishes my skin while adding a hint of colour.

TROPIC SKINCARE

PHYTO

This is always in my handbag so I’ll be taking it down the beach too. It keeps my lips nice and moisturised, smells great and gives a gorgeous sheen.

This combined shampoo and body wash is great for holidays. It gets rid of any sand and chlorine and nourishes the hair meaning you don’t need to lug around conditioner.

I’m a bit of a healthy eating addict, so this water bottle that filters water as you drink is great for me. I put mine in the fridge before so it keeps cool.

JOLIEHISTORY

NUXE, HUILE PRODIGIEUSE

NUXE, Huile Prodigieuse A firm favourite of the JolieBox teams all over Europe and a Summer staple for beauty lovers all around the globe, NUXE Huile Prodigieuse was born from the needs of a young mother, Aliza Jabès, for a complete and convenient skincare product intended for active woman like her. 20 years later, this product reigns supreme in the beauty world and one bottle is sold every 11 seconds across the globe!

JOLIEMAG

NUXE’s Huile Prodigieuse was the first multi-purpose and multi-use oil on the market and rapidly became a bathroom cabinet essential. It beautifully sums up the NUXE philosophy of delivering authentic products with a hint of sensuality but built around efficacy, which is why we love NUXE so much – their Rêve de Miel range features heavily in our beauty routines too.

NUXE, HUILE PRODIGIEUSE

The brand’s bestseller, this dry oil works to nourish, repair and protect the face, body and hair with its unprecedented concentration of precious plant oils including hazelnut, macadamia, borage, sweet almond and camellia plus vitamin E. If you fancy a touch of shimmer then try the OR version that leaves limbs glistening in the sun. There are seriously an endless number of beauty uses that the Huile Prodigieuse can be used for. Aside from its typical uses you can spray a small amount into your palm and mix with your usual body face or body or face cream to guarantee extra nourishing results.
