This is a proposal of an artist community for La Reunion Texas to develop on 35 acres of wooded land in Dallas. The objectives are to have an art studio for multi-media artist, a limited amount of residences, and a multifunctional building with gallery space, offices, and lounge space. Taking key elements of site conditions and history after visiting the site I proposed a general layout inspired by a railway junction point. Everything is raised on a plinth separating public and community space. The studio is open with hinged dividing walls to separate space as needed. Residence apartments are a shotgun style linked to the community space with bridges across a long opening in the plinth with views out back toward the beautiful nature of the site. The multifunctional building guards against the busy highway along front of the site. Glazing opens across the community facade for large events and is transprogrammable.
