Students from Scotland
The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) pay tuition fees for all eligible Scottish students.
Applications for funding from SAAS can be made on the SAAS website with either a conditional or unconditional offer from mid-April onwards. Do not wait for your exam results – if your course or institution details change, you can easily change or cancel your application by calling SAAS. To ensure your funding is in place at the start of your course you should apply by 30 June.
Most students apply to SAAS for a student loan to help with your living costs. Loans are incomeassessed and in 2020/21 ranged from £4,750 to £7,750 depending on household circumstances.
Young Students’ Bursary
If you are under 25 and from a low income family, you may be entitled to a SAAS Young Students’ Bursary. You can apply at the same time as you apply for payment of your tuition fees. The maximum amount available in 2020/21 was £2,000. www.rgu.ac.uk/ysb
Independent Students’ Bursary
If you are an ‘independent’ student, you may be eligible for additional support. If you are over 25, are married, in a civil partnership or living with a partner, or your parents have passed away, you would meet the criteria. The maximum amount available in 2020/21 was £1,000. www.rgu.ac.uk/isb
