Outstanding People for Education

Allegan Public Schools’ winners of this year’s OP4E award were Adrian Hall, Allison Bush, and Jane Kiel. This award is sponsored by the Allegan County School Boards Association and is open for nominations of any person who has contributed to the school district in a positive way. Adrian is the district mail courier who is known for always greeting everyone with a smile. Allison is a Family Coach for Early Childhood programs and organizes home visits and play groups. Jane Kiel is a French and English teacher at Allegan High School. Congratulations to this year’s winners!

School Bell Award

Joe James The 2015 School Bell Award this year went to retiring principal Joseph “The Legend” James. It was a unanimous choice among this year’s administrative team to select Joe, who retired from Dawson Elementary this year after 37 years of service to the district! The prestigious School Bell goes to someone who goes “above and beyond” in their commitment to students at APS.

Top Ten Allegan High School named its Top Ten academic graduates at commencement ceremonies on May 28. Earning the highest grade point averages for the Class of 2015 were: Left to Right (front row): Nathan Wallace, Aiden Knoll, Connor Mendell, Matthew Fifield, Cortnie Cook.
