Tiger Heart:Â APS Good News ALLEGAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS |
NOV 4 - 17, 2019
GOOD THINGS AT APS It's almost Thanksgiving. My favorite holiday of the year. No pressure of gifts, just family and friends together. I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving break!
Have you seen the new healthcare collection from Sassy Olive? It was designed by the Alternative High School's Cyan who is interning at Sassy Olive. In case you missed it, this video was inspiring to me and certainly made me miss being in the classroom! If you haven't had the time, I recommend taking a few minutes to watch this video.
Proud to be a Tiger!
The "Glow Bowl" fundraiser for the AAHS bowling team was a huge success! Special thanks to Coach Karen Cochran for organizing it and Snowden Sunset Lanes for hosting this event.
L.E. White staff recently presented to the Board the many ways they are changing students' lives socially and emotionally.
Congrats to Olivia Clearwater, Thomas Langschied, and Hunter Weeks. These three were just selected, by audition, into the MSVMA Regional Honors Choir!!!
When play and learning are mixed together, smiles happen! Congratulations to the AHS divers for their efforts in MHSAA regional competition. Sami Cook finished in 21st place and Taylor Price 23rd. The swim team will be competing in the state final meet starting on November 22. Good luck! (Sorry, no photo to include.) The Middle School is excited to be at START Peer to Peer training learning ways to make their LINKS program even better!
The Middle School LINKS students came together to celebrate Autism Awareness Month. They shared ways they can make a difference and one of the students made puzzle shaped cookies for everyone!
Go Blue or Go Green?
Nothing like a friendly rivalry. Students in Mrs. Criger's class at West Ward dressed in their favorite team's colors prior to the "Big Game." (Go Blue!)
New Toys Needed
Mrs. Norland's class is collecting new, unwrapped toys for kids that will be in the hospital over the holidays. If you would like to donate toys, please drop them off in the Dawson office or to Mrs. Norland no later than December 6. Thanks in advance for making a child's holiday brighter!
Pumpkin Decorating
Students in Mrs. Norland's and Mr. Beauregard's classes participated in a Pumpkin Decorating Contest. This was a family project. So, students could get help from their family members. The class voted on their favorites.
Just before Mother Nature decided to show us what winter looks and feels like, the students from the L.E. White Middle School Sewing Class visited the classrooms of Mr. Beauregard and Mrs. Norland to read stories to the kindergarten students and pass out handmade fleece hats! There were enough fleece hats to share with our Young Fives students, as well. A special thank you to Mrs. Schalk and her students.
North Ward students and staff love their credit union!
Dawson hosted a Veterans' Day assembly.
There's some great art lining the halls of North Ward. Mrs. Licavoli has some great projects going on for the students. She lines the halls with beautiful art work that the students have worked so diligiently on.
Pine Trails students enjoyed some "Donuts with Dudes."
West Ward students enjoyed their walk-a-thon!
Wellness Initiative!
It's not too late to get moving with this initiative. This month's challenge is to move more. Get in on the action! You can get 5 extra wellness points if you participate in the Allegan Ugly Sweater 5k on December 7.
North Ward students enjoying "Family Groups" on the last early release day.
Our Staff Rocks!
We are so lucky to have such a great staff at APS! Everyone at APS makes a difference. Thanks for all you do day in and day out to help our students be successful. Here are some pictures of the recent teacher PD.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Footloose! Great performance!
