Within each floor, the idea was manifested through organising the building as served and servant spaces. Served spaces as the structural core of the building, facilitating production of knowledge. Servant spaces as the open floors bounding around the served spaces, faciliating for display functions and social events. 6

HISTORICAL ANALYSIS Railway Square is not a square. Contrastingly over time Railway Square has become dominated by modes of transportation, as the public accessablility has been phased away , for these dominate programmes The pedestrain island has to be liberated from these limitations as the public must retake the landscape as these modes of distraction are become limiting factors of a more enlightened cultural society.

The library aims to re-engage and re-distribute the public of its near future, by breaking up the frictions created by the opposing momentums.

PROGRAMMATIC ANALYSIS What is current programmatic landscape of Railway Square and its surroundings? This study categorises the surrounding context in terms of three main programs relevant to site: institutions, service and retail. This information was used to relate the decisions made on the library’s program.

ANTHROPOLOGY ANALYSIS Out of the sample of potential users in Railway Square, we investigate the demographic based on levels of social interaction. The extracted information was used as a criticism to determine future users for the Railway Square library.

GENOTYPICAL PROGRESSION Discussion: as a symbiotic relationship producing to mutual understanding
A network of discussions as a negotation between multiple cycles of discussion, giving multi-faceted understanding.
In a spatial setting, these multi-faceted discussions become a filter through creative experiences that are core to the library.

The role of architecture as ‘play’ was individually experimented in three scenarios, each questioning a different limit within architecture’s functional capacity.

Railway Square is not a square. Sydney has become determined by a means to pass by everything rather than an experience in which society is active within. George Streets future is one of these steps that will lead to a more social society; Where our proposal for Railway Square will provide a cultural injection into this hub of Sydney. The model and acceptance of the plan for George street shows that the Sydney people want this change; where a city does not just provide the grounds to produce and consume but rather the inspiration and communication that can be provided through public architecture. 1 Railway Square is one of these projects that will help reconfigure the city to the perspective of the human scale, allowing for the reinterpretation of cultural dogma.

FACADE STRUCTURE + GLAZING Transparency defines the everlasting relationship between observer and the observed, the indifference is defined by the contemporary procedure of glass, and yet the historical evolution has changed the defining facts as the use has changed from the opening, to the barrier. The curtain wall has become the permeable substance to allow for this change to occur as allowing for the manipulation of individual panels to create a wall, that therefore acts as an opening through these individual panels. While the framing of such opportunities as the focal programs of the library allows for an interaction from the outside in rather than the standard opposite. This contrasting result allows for the manipulation of the programmatic standard of the curtain walls initial design, as rather than acting as the wall, but the permeable substance the blurs the exterior and interior. FLOOR PLATES + CONNECTIONS Within a library creativity is fostered through the unprogramed discovery that is founded when design remains an ambiguous backdrop to the participants. If the library wishes to generate the production of creativity the architect must allow for the exploration into the use of unprogrammed spaces, as these will allow for the reinterpretation of the program. Movement is one of these key areas as the destination of the user can be manipulated to involve the interaction of alternating environments, in which to create a collaborative landscape that is defined by the user for the user. BUILDING CORE + MAIN STRUCTURE At the core of the philosophy of a library is to provide the instigator for the programming of further works, resulting than in the production of creative thought. Accordingly than the structural core of the library is supported on the foundations of this philosophy, as all elements are supported by this defining form. This production is then archived onto itself, acting as the skin to enable the reproduction of further works.
