TRAN SPORTATION & PARKING Buses: Lincoln is a sprawling town and it is not always possible to walk or bike everywhere that you might need to go! All UNL students are given a bus pass as part of their student fees. This bus pass works for UNL buses running between East and City campus, and you can use it on Star Tran buses that run all through Lincoln. Star Tran: Lincoln’s bus system runs roughly from 6 am to 6:30 pm, depending on the route. The Gold’s Building, downtown at 11th and N, is the main hub for the buses and transfer routes. http://lincoln.ne.gov/city/pworks/startran/#s (402) 441.7185 or (402) 476.1234 for schedule information

8

University buses: UNL maintains bus routes that run much more frequently than city routes in between East and City Campus, as well as from perimeter parking to the campus itself. These run from 6:30 am to 11:30 pm every ten minutes (twenty minutes after 6 pm). http://parking.unl.edu/transit/ (402) 472.1800 Taxis: Capital Cab: (402) 477.6074 Yellow Cab: (402) 477.4111 Omalink (a shuttle that runs between Omaha and Lincoln) (402) 475.5465 Parking: Parking is a hot commodity near the university campus. Plan ahead so that you don’t wind up without a place to park when school starts! University parking: The university offers students commuter and resident parking permits, both by the year, 9-months, or shorter time increments. Students can also opt to by spots in parking garages, reserved spots, or perimeter parking spots.

9

TRAN SPORTATION & PARKING (cont.) After 4:00 pm on weekdays and on weekends any student tag is valid in most lots, including faculty lots. For details about parking permits, lots, and regulations, please refer to the UNL parking service’s website: http://parking.unl.edu/permits/ (402) 472.1800 Parking Garages: There are many city of Lincoln parking garages near the city campus. You can pay by the hour ($1 / hr up to $9), pay a monthly rate, or request a student discount from the garages. http://parkandgo.org/ (402) 441.7275 Game Day Parking: Football weekends in Nebraska mean that 80,000 people stream into Memorial Stadium on the UNL City campus. This means that most city garages will charge you an event fee regardless of whether or not you have a monthly pass. 10

University parking shuts down at 10 pm the evening before the game, so if you want a spot you will need to make sure that your car is in the lot beforehand. There is a small lot reserved for commuter students and student workers during the game near the Harper Schramm Smith complex. More information about Husker gameday can be found on the UNL parking website. Trains Amtrak has a station in the Haymarket district with trains to Chicago or Denver. 1 (800) 872.7245
