Sheikh Zayed effectively pursued ambitious plans of transforming Dubai from a small fishing and trading port into one of the world’s most recognized metropolises and leading financial capitals. The flag comprises three equal horizontal lines with green at the top, white in the middle and black at the base. There is also a wider vertical red ribbon in the direction of the flagpole. Green represents hope, joy, optimism and the country's prosperity. White represents peace and honesty. Black stands for the defeat of enemies and also strength of mind. While red represents hardiness, bravery, strength and courage. The vertical red band can also be interpreted as binding all the other meanings together in unity.
Ishi Bilady - Anthem Explanation The Ishy Bilady collection features words from the National Anthem in Arabic calligraphy across the barrel and cap. The National Anthem of the United Arab Emirates, popularly known as Ishy Bilady (meaning ‘Long Live my Nation’), was officially accepted as the UAE national anthem after the formation of the country in 1971. The anthem was composed by Mohammed Abdel Wahab. The lyrics to the anthem, officially adopted in 1996, were written by Arif Al Sheikh Abdullah Al Hassan.
