Celluloid The celluloide is a precious compound, made from natural cellulose ďŹ bers and dyes, boasting amazingly intense hues of pearlised colour. This easily molded and comfortable to the touch material has been discovered over a century ago as a substitute to Ivory. Its production process is, however, extremely laborious and expensive, therefore it is no longer widely used, unless in highly specialized industries of selected luxury products
Ebonite The ebonite is a natural rubber material used to produce high-quality fountain pen feeders. The writing block of the fountain pen, made in ebonite, adapts progressively to the pressure distributed by the writer's hand, thus giving handwriting a more personal touch.

Using age-old techniques and traditional tools, our engravers translate the customer's chosen image into a pattern to be engraved on solid silver or gold, at the client's behest. It is here that true artistry transforms the pen into a unique objet d'art.
HISTORY AND PROFILE Founded in 1912 as a 'Manifattura pennini d'oro e penne stilografiche' ('Manufacturer of gold nibs and fountain pens'), Montegrappa – originally known as ELMO – benefitted from a pool of skilled local talent, able to create a workforce able to produce finely crafted objects, with style, with panache, and with a drive to achieve excellence. Generations later, this regional benefit still defines Montegrappa's team. Montegrappa's factory is located on the bank of the River Brenta, the river winding through the town of Bassano del Grappa.
