Montegrappa Introduction Montegrappa, the first Italian pen manufacturer, was established in ` Bassano del Grappa – Veneto – in 1912. Ever since the beginning in the same original building, Montegrappa witnesses today almost a century of craftsmanship and Italian creative sophistication. Montegrappa is a symbol of luxury Italian style, passion and design combined with a long tradition of craftsmanship and care of the details. AMontegrappa pen is much more than an efficient writing instrument, reliable and invaluable: it’s an object to wear and show, a real accessory that speaks about us.


Brand history


Mile Stones In the same building, since 1912 Montegrappa was founded in 1912 in Bassano del Grappa as “Manifattura Pennini d’oro e Penne Stilografiche” (“Manufacturer of gold nibs and fountain pens”). Later the company changed its name in Elmo to which was added Montegrappa during the Forties. But since the foundation the factory is housed in the same building, witnessing a strong respect of tradition and manufacturing know-how

Bassano is located on the shores of the river Brenta, in Vicenza district (Veneto), a region that represent some of the oldest and most prestigious goldsmith traditions in the world.


1982 – the Aquila Family In 1982 the Aquila Family acquired the illustrious Bassano manufacturer.

1992 – the first limited edition In 1992, to celebrate its 80th Anniversary, Montegrappa realised the first limited edition in 1912 pieces.

1995 – the year of the Dragon In 1995, Montegrappa shocked the world of writing with the launch of its unconventional Dragon limited edition.

2000 – the Richemont Group In 2000 the Richemont Group took over the company.

2009 Montegrappa, which has become the biggest Italian manufacturer of luxury writing instruments, returns under the wings of the Aquila family.

TIBALDI PEN SETS WORLD RECORD IN AUCTION 4 MAY 2010: Tibaldi’s Fulgor Nocturnus, the company’s first ‘one-off’ pen has set a world record for writing implements at the “2010 National Charity Ceremony” held on 28th April 2010. Donated by the Chinese distributor, ALLE, it was auctioned by Sichuan Hongda Group for 58 million RMB (approx. 6.3 million EURO), believed to be a new world record established for a writing instrument auction.

Montegrappa, Italy’s most revered manufacturer of fine writing instruments, has announced the release of a pen inspired and designed by company brand ambassador and movie icon, Sylvester Stallone. This milestone event coincides with the announcement that Mr. Stallone will also serve as the “face of Montegrappa” in the company’s new advertising campaign.

Our master perfumers have combined Italian Lemons, Calabrian Bergamot, Nutmeg, Clarysage, Basil, Lavender, Petitgrain, and Juniper Berries on the top notes. The middle notes include, Clove, Geranium, Lily of the Valley, Cinammon, and Cyclamen Additional depth in the bottom notes comes from: Vetyver Java, Patchouly, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Musk, Amber, Tonka Bean, and Fir Balsam, to give a fragrance that is highly reďŹ ned and sophisticated. Montegrappa Nero Uno Fragrance is available in 50ml and 100ml Eau de Toilette, also available in 100 After Shave Spray, and a complimenting line of shower and shaving products.
