FROM THE EDITOR
SHOW WHO YOU ARE... HIDE. RUN. STAND.
We made it to another issues of Book Business Bosses Magazine. The 8th issue which to me symbolizes a new beginning. I trust this new beginning, is a better, more strategic, thought out and purpose filled beginning. I've learned over these past 3-6 months that life is even shorter than it was before. Why? I'm a year older and I've seen so many people die that were much younger than me. So what does that make me want to do? Show up even harder for myself, my family, my business and my clients. If you are the boss these days, those are not words but there must be action behind those words or dont use them! That's the reason for my subtitle, Hide. Run. or Stand. It's your choice. What will you choose to do? Over the years, I have found that leadership is tested in times of trouble and triumph. We are clearly getting to see what type of leaders we have in our country, world, communities, companies and houses. These times bring out the worst and best in people. It is survival mode right now. People will do almost anything to survive these days including backstabbing, lying and cheating. Loyalty is an even more rare commodity. When you find it, hold on real, real tight and never be willing to let go. Speaking of new beginnings, I am pleased to have a guest columnist, Ms. Friday Foster with her feature, "Writing in a Crisis." I look to have more guest articles in the next issue.

Get Comfortable Talking About Uncomfortable Things Rosalind Jones Jacksonville's Best Caregivers www.jacksonvillesbestcaregivers.com info@jacksonvillesbestcaregivers.com
There are things you generally don’t talk about in polite company- politics and religion top the list. Being considerate about tricky topics is a good thing. Avoiding uncomfortable things helps people feel at ease but sometimes you have to get comfortable talking about uncomfortable things. Talking about death, dying, and making plans might feel morbid but it is a necessary part of living. Being able to share your thoughts about things like: What sort of care you consent to in the event of an accident or injury If you want to be revived or kept on life support Where you want to live in the event you can’t live at home Who should make medical or other decisions on your behalf if you are unable Your thoughts on funeral planning and burial options And more One of the reasons it’s so hard to talk about uncomfortable things is the feeling there is little control. The truth is, if you do not have plans in place, you’ll have very little control but if you do have plans in place, much of your care and aftercare is well within your control. All the more reason to have tough talks!
Issue 8 | 10
Here are some tips for getting comfortable talking about uncomfortable things:
Tip #1. Do your homework The more you know about a subject, the less uncomfortable it is. There’s nothing you can’t learn about any subject connected to the legal, financial, and medical aspects of end-of-life care. Educate yourself and you will be well equipped to have intelligent and easier talks about the subjects.
Tip #2. Prepare your audience If you are going to have an uncomfortable discussion, prepare your family or friends beforehand. Don’t blindside someone with a tough talk they may not be emotionally ready for. Instead, give them time to get ready and be mentally prepared to absorb what you need to share.
Tip #3. Practice The more often you talk about uncomfortable things, the easier it will be. Start with professionals like clergy, medical staff, or attorneys before chatting with family or friends. Practicing your conversation will help you find the best words to use as well as become more comfortable speaking them. Some conversations are going to be tough no matter what. Being able to speak about uncomfortable things more comfortably helps those who depend on you feel safer and more prepared to help when the time comes. Get comfortable by doing your homework, prepping your audience, and practicing your conversation beforehand.

Virtual Book Fairs As a School Librarian, I know first hand how important it is to subsidize the ever decreasing library budgets. Secondly, with the limited in-person access, having a way to generate income for a library in a safe environment is more important BK Royston Publishing is pleased to announce the launch of the Virtual Royston Book Fairs. Why? To support libraries by providing quality children's books to represent children of all nationalities as well as offer an additional fundraising opportunity. We can host Virtual Book Fairs and the administrators, parents and the community can purchase books and have a percentage of the proceeds go directly to the school. For more information, email us at bkroystonpublishing@gmail.com, call 502-802-5385 or http://www.bkroystonpublishing.com/bookfairs for more information.

No Worries - 2020 In January from across the waters Were whispers of a silent Killer… And No one knew how But They said, “No worries.” In March, the world closed And Death hovered Closer than ever before… And They had no answers But They said, “No worries.” And as Death continued to hover, They scrambled. “Do this!” “Do nothing!” “It will go away.” Yet, Death continued To collect more than 200,000 souls.
But… They said,“No worries.”

And as Thanksgiving approaches I am thankful For the many blessings and revelations That God has shown us In the midst of this pandemic. Yet, Death continues To ravage the land and its people, So, now I ask, “When Shall They begin To worry?”
