April Update
Jared Andersen Project Manager
March was very busy for progress on Phase 1 renovations of Boven. Interior framing has been moving ahead at full steam. The crews were quick to hang the HVAC duct work and plumbing from the ceiling. Electrical conduits have added to the maze of pipe and equipment that will be above the ceiling. Mechanical work has also started above, below and in adjacent spaces to support this newly renovated unit. The small addition to the west of phase 1 is fully underway. This very complex portion of the project is a necessity in adding needed office spaces and connectivity to the new Boven design. This work involves removing a small portion of roof from the hospital and creating a finished floor with new exterior façade. Stay tuned as this phase continues to show a glimpse of what the newly renovated space will look like in the coming months.

FUN FACT Working in an occupied facility and maintaining necessary operations can be a challenge. Coordinated shut downs and temporary work are required by the project team as we move through this 33,205-SF renovation. This is on a relatively small scale when compared to the 21 square miles of construction on Dubai’s Al Maktoum Airport. This is considered one of the most complex and expensive current construction projects on Earth. Roughly 16,500 times the size of the Boven Renovation, coordination and communication are without a doubt necessary in maintaining customer and passenger safety at all times.
