BUILDING BOVEN Holland Hospital - Boven Birth Center Renovation - Construction Update Newsletter
POST-PARTUM FOOTWALL BLOCKING
PROJECT MANAGEMENT UPDATE Navigation throughout the progress on the Phase 1 Boven Renovations can be very challenging. A maze of metal studs and mechanical equipment have continued to be installed by the team. The drywall team has mobilized as well and begun to “cover up” the in-wall mechanical systems. This is an exciting time for the project as we move from the rough-in phase to what will start to look like a finished product. Jared Andersen Project Manager
While not so noticeable to the naked eye, a lot of work has taken place for systems and structures supporting Phase 1. Sanitary and domestic water piping have all been stubbed up from lower floors. Mechanical systems and ceilings have been repaired and put back into place in corridors and offices below. This “bottleneck” of work was very challenging for both the construction team and Holland Hospital’s operations. However, through continuous coordination and communication we came out very successful for this complex portion of Phase 1. Great work and thank you to everyone who was involved! FUN FACT A quick glance at the mechanical systems above the ceiling in Phase 1 can be quite the sight to see. Plumbing, HVAC, medical gas, electrical and many other systems take up literally all of the available space. This project used BIM (building information modeling) to ensure everything would fit and ceiling heights were maintained. This wasn’t without challenges to the engineers or the installers, though. In a few short months, the finished ceiling will be in place hiding these massive systems that support the hospital and keep patients and staff comfortable.
