KRESGE RENOVATIONS

PROJECT MANAGEMENT UPDATE Welcome back to another edition of Building Together.

The Kresge Addition is almost ready for the Grand Opening! This past month has brought tons of excitement as all of the trade contractors were working on the final touches and details. A few of the major milestones this month include the installation of all the flooring, the final connections on all the bakery equipment, hanging all of the doors and hardware and final construction cleaning. UMRC, Elzinga & Volkers and GMB A+E have completed their punch list walk, and the trade contractors have one last round of touch ups until the building is turned over for furniture installation.

The McMullen Wellness Center is moving along and the tile work has started. The pool tile along the perimeter and the swim lanes is nearing completion and the tile setters will begin their work on the pool deck in the upcoming weeks. The tile setters have also been working in the bathrooms starting their mud bed for their finished tile work. The last bit of curtain wall and glass has started to be installed and once complete will be the final piece to enclose the building.

Building Together | Construction Update Newsletter UMRC - Chelsea, MI - January 2019 KRESGE EXPANSION & RENOVATIONS | UP NEXT We are going through our state inspections at this time on the addition, and will have our last two inspections 1-25-19 and 2-5-19. We are in the process of completing the punch list items and will be done with those soon. The campus will be moving in all their fixtures the week of 1-28-19 with residents moving in the following week. The next phase of the project will be moving to floors 1 and 2 in the North wing of the existing Kresge building for renovations, which will start around 2-11-19.

MCMULLEN WELLNESS & AQUATIC CENTER | UP NEXT In the next four weeks, we are looking to finish up with the elevator install after a delay as they waited for parts to be made, but we will continue work on the 21st.

The tile in and around the pool will go on for the next 4 weeks as well as tile work in the bathrooms. The soffits that are going in by ACP should be done in the next three weeks. The curtain wall system should be getting close to being done in the next couple of weeks. Finally, we also have some finishes to go in on the walking deck that will go in after the elevator materials are out of the way.

KRESGE RENOVATIONS

Clark Brothers comes to mind when I look at a trade contractor who stands out. He doesn’t have a large crew, but he’s here if we are in a pinch. With the paint products Carl needs to use on this pool, he has to work off-hours to help us stay on track. So, I want to say thank you to Carl and his crew for keeping us on track!
