PROJECT MANAGEMENT UPDATE
Matt Wintjes Assistant Project Manager
July was crunch time for the construction team as the Benson office building was slotted for completion. Coordination was in full swing aligning all outstanding items to ensure the finished product was ready to welcome its new occupants. With the steel framing complete at the Kresge Addition, crews have shifted inside the building to begin framing each new resident room and common area. Throughout this phase, all parties will be able to coordinate locations of mechanical, electrical and plumbing fixtures to ensure the finishing touches are installed as designed. I’m sure all of you are curious as to why the McMullen Wellness Center was covered with plastic tarp. With all the chemicals a pool atmosphere commonly presents, the entire structure that is exposed to these elements is susceptible to corrosion. Therefore, Clark Brother’s Painting is assigned with the task of applying an intermediate and finish coating of a specialty Tnemec paint and primer. This paint product will need to be applied to all of the structural steel framing and decking that will be exposed. This intricate process of blasting and applying each coat will ensure this building will hold its aesthetic appeal for many years to come. Once again, all of the obstacles and inconveniences that construction can present haven’t gone unnoticed and we’d like to thank you for your continued cooperation and for being a joy to work with!
