PROJECT MANAGEMENT UPDATE

Matt Wintjes Assistant Project Manager

June was a very busy month around the construction site. Structural steel framing and roof decking for both the McMullen Wellness Center and the Kresge Addition are nearing completion and the exterior shell for both buildings will be in full swing as we move into the month of July. Both of these buildings will have a masonry exterior finish with either burnish block or limestone accents. Rounding out this month’s progress was the completion of interior finishes on the third and fourth floors of the Benson building and the installation of the new stair tower. The construction team continues to push full steam ahead on the first and second floors as UMRC will be installing their furniture and putting the finishing touches on the space in anticipation of an early to mid-July move-in date. Make sure you keep your eyes on the projects as things intend to move very quickly in the upcoming months and we don’t want you to miss a beat. KRESGE EXPANSION & RENOVATIONS | UP NEXT

The expansion of the Kresge building continues to advance! DensGlass installation has been completed along with the installation of brick ties and wood blocking around the windows. Structural steel is currently being set, and the building is awaiting spray foam insulation along the exterior walls. In the coming weeks, the building will undergo the framing of the interior walls, the installation of the roof blocking, the setting of exterior masonry, and MEP rough-ins.

BENSON OFFICE BUILDING | UP NEXT

The renovations in the Benson Office Building are coming to a close! The third and fourth floors are seeing their final finishes and will receive their final clean as soon as all punch list items have been addressed. Additionally, the second floor will be seeing carpet laid this week while the first floor will see the painting of its rooms. If all goes well, the renovations of the Benson Office Building will be completed within the month!

MCMULLEN WELLNESS CENTER | UP NEXT

The construction of the new McMullen Wellness and Aquatic Center has seen much progress in the last month! The building’s structural steel erection has consumed the majority of late May and early June construction. However, steel erection will be wrapping up this week, allowing more trades to continue working on the Wellness Center. After the erection of steel has been completed, the roughing in of the structure will begin with the painting of the steel and the installation of storm drains on the newly completed roof. Both the UMRC and E&V crews are excited to finally see the building take form!

MCMULLEN WELLNESS & AQUATIC CENTER STRUCTURAL STEEL

Contracted through Rohmann Ironworks, the men of SPS Steel have done a fantastic job with keeping the schedule for the McMullen Wellness and Aquatic Center on track! The goal of every trade is to work efficiently and safely, and SPS Steel has mastered the art of both.
