Over the past month, the construction onsite has continued to progress and all the trade contractors are putting in the manhours to keep up with the demands. The site has been graded and each trade is consolidating their materials in order to start paving the site. Jon Hegwer, Pat Roussey and Solomon Lamb have coordinated extensively with the trades to ensure they have adequate access to each building as the majority of the site will be designated to asphalt paving and site concrete in the interim. The McMullen Wellness Center is moving along steadily as Jon has the trades focusing the work on the walking track. The construction team has set a goal to complete the upper level by the end of October in order to have all of the trades shift their focus to the lower level at that time. Once the pool construction is complete, trades can begin retrofitting the space with the finer details, including the suspended mechanical, electrical and plumbing finishes and the setting tile and flooring finishes. The Kresge Addition is heading in the right direction as all of the miscellaneous odds and ends are nearing completion. The exterior masonry work is almost complete and all of the window frames and glass are being installed to allow the building to become weather tight. As the inside of the building becomes acclimated, drywall finishing and painting will be at the forefront of activities to complete in preparation for mechanical, electrical and plumbing finishes as well as casework and flooring install. In the next few weeks the construction team will be coordinating the tie in to the existing south wing of the Kresge building, which once complete will serve as the connection to the new addition. Building Together | Construction Update Newsletter UMRC - Chelsea, MI - September 2018 KRESGE EXPANSION & RENOVATIONS | UP NEXT The clock is ticking down closer to our turnover date! We are getting there one day at a time. Masonry will be wrapping up next week. Windows are installed on the East Wing, with the West Wing soon to follow, allowing ACP to do taping and finishing of walls and ceilings. MEPs are moving yet, but struggling a little with staying ahead of the finishes that are following. They have even added a day in their schedule to get further ahead. Exterior concrete is being placed in early October with curbs soon after. Stone base is going down currently, so we look to asphalt base coat late next week. Making turn over date is tight, but we can get it done! Thanks to all of our trade partners working together. MCMULLEN WELLNESS & AQUATIC CENTER | UP NEXT The pool has been excavated and they are preparing to pour the floor of the pool the week of 9-24-18. Then they will form the exterior of the pool and prepare the walls to be shot in the coming weeks. After the walls are completed the pool piping is connected and the backfill around the pool will resume. We plan on installing a runway for a lift to be brought in to finish the duct sock and lighting inside the pool area after the concrete has had time to cure out. We also plan on starting the plumbing for the bathrooms and slab on grade at that time.
KRESGE RENOVATIONS
We are currently working closely with UMRC and GMB Architecture + Engineering on planning the renovation of the existing Kresge facility after we turn the addition over. The UMRC owners team is being extremely helpful in making this a smooth transition!
