Monthly Funny

PM Summary Taking Shape! Over the past month we have hit a few big milestones. One of the most impactful milestones is the completion of the roof and attic fire protection in the Memory Care Addition. This has allowed the drywall crew to start hanging the drywall “lid that attaches to the trusses. This drywall is not the finished surface in the corridors and bathrooms, but it provides a break between the cold attic and the warm space below. Having this drywall installed allows us to install all ductwork, electrical, plumbing, and low voltage that is concealed in the finished building with an acoustical ceiling system. Another big milestone is the completion of the majority of siding and brick on the Memory Care Addition. The connector and bridge are slowly taking shape with a lot of effort going into coordinating and installing all the details that tie to the new structures to the existing. In the Health Care Center, Phase 5 was successfully turned over and Phase 6 has begun. The Rehab addition is just about ready for drywall, which is a great milestone on this small but complex addition.

SAFETY Memory Care/Connector Matters Hearing Protection

Building Together | Canterbury On The Lake Facility Addition & Renovations | July 2017

Looking Ahead

We all enjoy listening to our favorite songs on the radio, watching our favorite TV shows, and participating in great conversations with the people around us, right? With this in mind, we should certainly protect our hearing while we are on noisy construction sites because once the damage is done, it can be long-lasting or even permanent!

Ear Safety, like all aspects of safety, is aimed at keeping ourselves and our senses safe from danger and/or permanent damage while on the jobsite. In the past, many workers did not want to wear hearing protection because they were afraid that they would miss a warning call from above or the sound of a generator kicking in. Today, there are many different styles of hearing protection available. In fact, it is so sophisticated that workers can a select a noise canceling hearing protection device that cancels or blocks dangerous background noise, but still allows face-toface conversations. It’s important to remember that even with all the great hearing protection choices available, the most important aspect of ear safety is just being aware of the risk before you start any work.
