Building Together Canterbury on the Lake - Facility Addition & Renovations
Fire Lane Progress
Monthly Funny
PM Summary Great Progress! As the leaves begin to change, the Memory Care continues to change as well. On the exterior, the fire lane around the building has progressed from the Southeast all the way up to the new main entrance. On the inside, the North Wing is deep into finishes with all the resident rooms painted and the resident bathrooms tiled. In the corridors on the North Wing, the lean rails and door casings are all but complete. On the South and West Wings, drywall hanging and finishing is about 85% complete. Above ceiling mechanical rough-in’s continue to take place in the South and West corridors, and resident room trim work is nearing completion. Outside in the Memory Garden, the colored concrete sidewalks have been poured and top soil has been brought in for landscaping. Inside the Health Center the final push is now upon us! Phase 4 finished up this week giving Canterbury back their much needed dining room and new nurse’s station. Phase 4 was our biggest and one of the most challenging phases of the Health Center renovation. We will be starting Phase 9 (which is the final phase) this week as we flip construction over to the other side of the temporary wall from Phase 4.

Memory Care/Connector Looking Ahead
In the North Wing, we have begun laying carpet in the resident rooms as well as sheet vinyl in the resident bathrooms. The chair rail trim detail will be completed in the resident rooms within the next week and by end-of-day Friday, October 27th, the model resident room will be ready for furniture (stay tuned for pictures next month!). Out in the corridor of the North Wing, installation of the ceiling grid will take place and, in turn, free up the remaining above ceiling finish work. Over in the South Wing, progress continues to ramp up as the North Wing finishes. The heat pumps that will serve the resident rooms are being hung in the corridor. Resident bathroom tile has transitioned out of the North Wing and into the South, with more finishes to follow suit. In the next few weeks the South Wing will be complete and caught up with the North.
With all the dangerous equipment, sharp materials and precarious heights that can be found on a construction site, you would probably be surprised to know that simple trips and falls are one of the most common accidents. Small holes and uneven surfaces are unavoidable during the construction of a building, but proper precautions can help minimize their danger. All holes on a project site that are over 4 in diameter most be covered and marked with bold writing. Uneven surfaces can be temporarily leveled or traffic can be directed around them. Most importantly, daily clean up and housekeeping will keep the jobsite free of debris and loose materials. All these seemingly minor precautions help E&V avoid serious injury on the project site.

Finally to the West, the main entry has been completely drywalled with finishes following directly behind. Over in the resident kitchen, ductwork continues to be run through the bulkheads. Once completed, the last of the drywall can be hung in this area. The fire suppression contractor has worked his way out of the South Wing and into the West to wrap up his rough-in work. Like the South Wing, the West will see a dramatic change in the upcoming weeks as the finishes start to shape its final appearance.

Progress on the Connector continues to pick up steam as the roof over the Iris Room expansion has been completed. Exterior framing on the expansion is starting to complete the shape, with a goal of having it fully enclosed by the end of the month to begin interior work. On the lower level of the Connector, drywall lids have been hung in areas near the Memory Care building. The mechanical contractor has started to hang his piping that will tie back into the main facility.

& CONSTRUCTION PROFESSIONALS
Upcoming Renovation Project Happenings The Phase 4-dining room and Pod 2 resident rooms have reached completion. Moving into Phase 9, the final phase of the Health Center renovations, we are excited construction will soon be complete and will allow residents and staff to enjoy the facility for years to come.
Anthony comes our way from C&R Plumbing. As the head plumber on the job, Anthony has been tasked with getting the extensive plumbing system installed and running in the Memory Care building, as well as working on the plumbing system in the Health Center renovations. Bouncing back and forth between the two projects hasn't been easy, but Anthony and his team have been able to meet the demands. Thanks for all of your hard work!
