Project Update Even with the continued cold over the past months, we keep progressing on the exterior of the building.. AMI continues to install insulation, z strips and panels. Bouma is staying ahead of these installations with the vapor barrier that is applied directly to the exterior sheathing. In addition, Allied has been working continuously on getting the permanent power connected. They are working on assembling and installing the risers. The goal is to have power on in the building by the end of next week. On the interior of the building, floors 2 and 3 continue to push forward nicely. The newest development on these levels is that flooring is being installed in the exam rooms along the north side of the building. Ritsema is handling a number of different tasks on these floors right now including: installing ceiling grid, cutting ceiling tiles in, finishing drywall on area 4 and framing the hospitality areas on each level. As drywall pushes forward, more finishes follow behind. Casework is being installed throughout each floor, and the painting continues. The lower two floors are in the transition period between rough framing and finishes. All of the MEP in wall inspections have taken place, and drywall has been installed in areas 1 through 3. In area 4, we are working through safety items surrounding the lead drywall in imaging, namely that the air needs to be constantly tested and continually monitored. Ritsema is heading up this task and will be working with a MIOSHA representative as part of our partnership. As you can see, work continues to push forward, but we still have a long way to go in the next three months!

Project Forecast Hopefully, by our next issue we will be talking about all the work happening outside because the snow has disappeared! However, just like the USPS’s motto of “neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night,” our exterior contractors continue to push forward. AMI will install metal panels across the building, and Vos Glass will work on the structural sealant on the west curtain wall. On the floors 2 and 3, we will continue a number of tasks similar to current ones, but in more areas. Ritsema will complete the drywall finishing process on these floors, allowing painting, casework, flooring and ceilings to be installed. Once each room has finished light fixtures and flooring, we will install the owner-supplied items. These two floors are looking more and more like the final product every day! Soon, the lower two levels will officially transition from rough construction to finish construction. Ritsema will complete the drywall hanging on these two floors once our latest change is approved. We will also start seeing paint color and case work being installed on each floor. Everyone on-site has given a tremendous effort throughout the entire project, and it is exciting to watch them bring it all together. We have had an excellent team on this project!
