HOW FAR WE’VE COME (AND GONE)! TONY ROUSSEY CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER How far we’ve come: I was asked to focus on safety for this article as we have just put the final touches on another awesome, 6th annual, Alive 365 Safety Week! It was a smash hit with our employees, trade partners, clients and others in the industry, such as MIOSHA. They participated in free trainings and a symposium that was, according to many, our best yet! In those six years, we filled nearly 1,300 training seats from 75 different companies! Our symposium has had over 1,000 people in the industry attend from 351 companies. Thank you to the team that made this event even better than previous ones, which is saying a lot! Here at E&V, we are a couple weeks from an incredible 12 years with no lost time injuries, and God willing, we can do so for another twelve, or more! Also, we are just a few months away from celebrating an amazing 4,500 days without a lost time injury!

as well. In the past month or so, our Safety Leadership Team of Scott Wondergem, Macky Lynn and I traveled to Long Beach, California, to the National ABC convention where we attended a black tie event and received the highest safety award presented, the Pinnacle Award! Only FOUR companies nationwide, out of 21,000 members, have achieved this award level! Wow! Now that is something we can all be proud of! Although we celebrate those accomplishments, let us remember, at the end of the day, it is not about the awards and milestones. It’s about the safety of everyone on our team. Like an athlete or sports team, the awards come if you practice really hard every day, commit yourself to being the best and never give up on the quest for perfection. In the case of safety, that quest lessens the chance of someone getting hurt. That is why, at E&V, we do safety the way we do! We strive to keep every employee, trade partner or anyone visiting our project sites safe. Thank you all for doing your part!

How far we’ve gone: E&V continues to be a recognized leader in safety in not only the West Michigan construction industry but nationally

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK! At E&V, we pride ourselves on being construction professionals in the occupied healthcare environment. However, what does “professional in an occupied healthcare environment” mean? It means daily we go above and beyond; not to just maintain site safety of construction personnel, but also the extra care for patient and staff safety. It means continuing to monitor infection controls, housekeeping and coordinating operational impact directly with our clients and staff. We do this all while developing a product at the very highest level of quality our clients, architects and engineers expect. Currently, one of our very best examples of this is the renovation of Holland Hospital’s Boven Birth Center. Daily, our onsite team faces an incredible amount of challenges and handles each with careful attention and planning. From sanitary tie-ins in surgery, mechanical and electrical shutdowns, infection controls and maintaining perfect housekeeping, the onsite team continues to shine. Boven is one of E&V’s largest self-perform projects. With over 40,000 labor hours budgeted for demolition, concrete, general trades, firestop and interiors, many E&V personnel come to work daily at Holland Hospital. This long-standing client continues to be impressed with our performance and professionalism in their facility. The Boven renovation remains one of our most challenging projects currently underway. Without the hard work and dedication from our field team, as well as trusted trade partners, this project would not be as successful as it has been to date. It has been, and always will be, the dedication of our field staff who land the next project for E&V. So, I say thank you and kudos to everyone who has been involved in this project thus far. A special thank you to Nate Stuart and Chris Workman whose leadership has continued to bring this project to reality. Jared Andersen, Project Manager

Safety Week Success! Alive365: Safety Week 2019 was a success again this year! We want to take the time to thank Jill Monte, Macky Lynn, Scott Wondergem and Tony Roussey and the rest of the planning team for hosting a great event, again!

Over 360 people participated in this year’s safety week! BUILDINGTOGETHER | April 2019
