AWARDS: BE PROUD AND CELEBRATE! This past month, at the annual Excellence in Construction Awards Gala hosted by the Associated Builders and Contractors Association of West Michigan, we were awarded, for the fourth time in six years, the highly coveted ABC Safety Contractor of the Year! I can’t begin to tell you just how proud I am of the entire E&V team for winning this award again! From the hard work of our safety committee to individuals like Jamie Schippa, Scott Wondergem and Seth Wehner, who make the important decisions that keep us all safe. Because of the buy in and commitment from every E&V team member, we have created a culture of excellence in safety that we can all be proud of!

• And for the eighth time in ten years, we have been named an Elite Award winner in the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in West Michigan.

We have been blessed to win other fine awards in the past year as well. • Michigan Contractor of the Year (MCOY) in 2016, the second time in four years.

So, I applaud all of you for your commitment and efforts that have led to the recognition we’ve received over the past year. WE are a winning team and WE should celebrate and be proud of what WE have accomplished!

• the STEP Diamond designation in safety for the fourth consecutive year.

Please, be safe!

• On top of that, for the second year in a row, we were named one of the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For, nationally! What does this all mean? It may seem to some that we are bragging or gloating; I think not! I truly believe that hard work pays great dividends. Other than receiving these awards and the feedback shared in competing for them, how else would we be able to judge our performance as a company in so many areas? Winning these awards has come from many hours of hard work by each and every one of you - These awards are your awards!

Tony Roussey VP of Operations

• Accredited Quality Contractor designation for the second consecutive year.

Recent Award Wins

ABC EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION On Tuesday, September 12, Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of West Michigan, awarded us with the Safety Award of Excellence at their 31st Annual Excellence in Construction Awards. For this award we are ranked on several components, including: employer involvement, statement on safety, resources, goal setting, training, new employee orientation, inspections, recording keeping and more.

WEST COAST CHAMBER West Coast Chamber recognizes two companies a year for being a great employer that gives back to the community, invests in its facilities and its employees and has a positive history of job growth and retention. One is presented to a member employer who has 100 or more employees and the other award goes to a member with 99 or less employees. We are humbled and thankful to be 2017's recipient of this award, alongside Collective Idea.

Wedding Bells! Let’s give it up for our excellent newcomers and welcome them to the E&V Family!

Our Little Fighter– "No Fear Nolan" Nolan did very well with all the pokes and tests he had done in late August. While the scans still show left over tumor, which can all be inactive or dead, his PET scan looked great.

101 Best and Brightest Update What is the No. 1 reason people continue working for their current employer? Is it the pay? The benefits? A lack of better options? These are the obvious answers, but according to a recent survey conducted by the American Psychological Association the top reason people give for staying at their current job is “I enjoy the work I do.” Our company works very hard at creating a culture where people feel valued and enjoy what they do.

Open Interviews

This is why being recognized as one of the 101 Best and Brightest means so much to E&V, and why we have so many people working to make sure we continue to be the work place “where my life is enriched, where my children aspire to work and where my neighbors wish they could be.”

Wednesday, October 18 3-6pm

As we continue to work hard at being your workplace of choice, we also have an obligation to make sure you are compensated fairly and that we offer benefits that support a healthy life style. Over the past year, the Benefits and Compensation Committee has been focused on making sure our co-workers know what benefits are available to them and how to access these services. At our monthly Safety Meetings, we have talked about; our Employee Assistance Program, the free and discounted prescriptions drugs available through our health plan, the benefits of a Health Saving Account, free smoking cessation solutions and other benefits that are available to you and your family.

86 East Sixth Street Holland, MI 49423

As we look ahead to the New Year, the committee will be working closely with our insurance providers to ensure E&V provides you with the best possible benefits package.
