SAFETY SPOTLIGHT Ladders are used by most, if not all, trades throughout various stages of construction projects on-site...and at home. Ladder safety is extremely important not only at the jobsite, but at home as well. Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind when pulling the ladder out to hang those holiday lights:
First, inspect the ladder to assure there is no damage.
Next, only use a ladder on a stable and level surface.
Finally, do not step on the top step or rung of the ladder unless it was designed for that purpose.

Just over the last two weeks, the drywall finishers, painters, ceiling installers, cabinetry installers, floor installers, plumbers and electricians have all been working hard to install the building finishes. Painting continues from east to west toward the surgical corridor. Installation of ceilings, light fixtures and cabinetry are halfway complete, and floor covering is ramping up on the east end of the building.
and duct work) are well underway. While the MEP contractors focus on these roughins, carpentry crews work steadily at getting the building enclosed. The exterior framing is nearly complete, which has allowed sheathing and vapor barrier to be installed to keep the environmental elements out of the building. Once the roof is installed in the upcoming weeks, work on the building interior will ramp up. - John Parker, Project Manager jparker@elzinga-volkers.com
