reviewed by an engineer in Lansing before being sent to a regional inspector. Once the construction is complete, the regional inspector comes to the project site and ensures compliance with both the design and health codes. This process is yet another level of verification that the new unit is safe for patient use.

We are pleased to announce that the new Emergency Department at Gerber Memorial Hospital passed a major milestone this week. On Monday, we received our official certification for occupancy from the State Health Department. This means that the new unit is ready for patients and staff, although there are still a few things left to complete before the new department is opened.

Inside the building, Elzinga & Volkers and its team of trade contractors are completing the punch list, which is a list of small repairs and adjustments that need to be made to the building. Some examples of these small items include paint touch up and hanging final wall mounted accessories.
