Concrete Block Demolition 2ND Floor, West Oxford
Welcome to March, when the spring time is finally within reaching distance and warmer weather and greener pastures can be seen on the horizon (after the latest polar vortex of course), and like the green pastures of spring, we are beginning to see some greener pastures on the project. Over the last month we have begun the final phase of the structural shoring which is taking place in the pool locker rooms. The structural shoring has been the most challenging aspect of the project thus far due to working around the equipment and pipes housed above the ceilings, we will all be glad when this portion of the project is complete. Along with the shoring being a challenge, the structural demolition has been a bit of a challenge as well. To make room for the new layouts we had to do some extensive demolition of existing concrete block walls. This work is not glamorous by any means. It is extremely dusty, messy and labor intensive - the block is heavy. The guys have been busting their humps to complete this work, and in a week or two they will have completed all the demolition work on the block, this is a big win for us on the project. On the 2nd floor (East) Epworth, framing has been completed, bringing the new layouts to life. The Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing contractors have been working on completing rough-in’s and tie-ins to the existing systems that will begin to shape the infrastructure of the new utilities within each new apartment. On the 2nd floor (West) Oxford, framing is about 50% complete. The structural work in the pool locker rooms is making its way up to the 2nd floor (West) Oxford and the 3rd floor (West) Bristol. By the end of March the structural work will be completed, opening up the rest of the construction site to complete the new framing. This past month on the project has seen great progress and we look forward to carrying the momentum into March and beyond!

SPOTLIGHT Feyen Zylstra This month I would like to recognize Tanner Heetderks from Feyen Zylstra. Tanner has been onsite as the foreman for about 2 months now. He was thrown into the foreman roll after our first foreman onsite had surgery. It was like Tanner was here the whole time., he never missed a beat. Tanner has a bright future in front of him. Thank you for your hard work and dedication Tanner!
