Concrete Foundation Wall - Reinforcing Steel
Greetings All, As we turn the page on another month, we continue to turn many pages on progress here onsite. February was a big month for the project team as the buildings have begun to rise out of the ground in the form of the concrete foundations and walls. To date, the concrete crews have installed over 250,000 lbs. of reinforcing steel and have poured over 800 yards of concrete. To put into perspective how much work has been done, the amount of steel installed in pounds, equals the weight of a Railroad Locomotive Engine and the amount of concrete in yards placed, is enough to fill 161,580 gallons of milk! Placing this much concrete in such a short period of time required the sitework crews to work diligently to keep up with the concrete trucks coming in and out of the job site. Towards the end of the month, the city imposed their road weight restrictions which meant that we would not be able to haul off as much soil as we had initially planned in order to keep the job running smoothly. Our sitework contractor was adaptable though and found areas onsite where we could stock pile soil and keep the job moving. This was a big win for the team! As we look forward to next month, we will continue to have a month full of concrete and sitework. The masons will also join us onsite to begin erecting the stair and elevator shafts. Stay tuned for next month’s update! Nick Novakoski, Project Manager NickN@elzinga-volkers.com
TRADE CONTRACTOR
SPOTLIGHT This month’s Trade Contractor spotlight goes to Kent Companies. They have had multiple crews onsite and have done an outstanding job with the concrete foundation footings and walls. They have integrated well with the other trades on the project and their commitment to safety has been exceptional. A big thank you to Mike, Darryl, Mark and the rest of the team!
