The Look Ahead
The pre-engineered building will arrive on-site just in time as the 27’ tall precast concrete panels installation wraps up. The next few weeks will be primarily focused on erecting the steel for the building, roof and mezzanine. As the building goes up, the sitework will start buttoning up in preparation for curb and paving. Ryan Geurink, Field Manager 616.821.0519
Executive Summary
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for…precast is on-site! The precast concrete panels arrived on time and are currently being erected. This is a huge milestone in the overall project and was originally determined impossible to attain. Through hard work and close collaboration with Kerkstra Precast and others, the delivery date was met. There are still many hurdles to overcome through the course of this project, but hitting a the first important milestone gives us the momentum we need to deliver this project on time. Clayton Martin, Senior Project Manager 616.392.2383
Did You Know?
Concrete itself is actually a phenomenon of nature. Discovered in Israel, natural deposits of cement compounds were said to have formed due to spontaneous combustion between limestone and oil shale. In 2,500 BC, many millennia after concrete’s discovery, Egyptians used lime and gypsum mortar as a binding agent for building the Pyramids. Instead of being carved whole and hauled to the building site, the imense blocks of the Great Egyptian Pyramids may have been the first “precast” concrete structures! SUBCONTRACTOR
