PM Update Happy New Year Everyone! While this time of year is typically marked by making resolutions and taking on new initiatives, the 9th floor project is resembling quite the opposite, as we wane out of the last major phase and head towards the finish line. In our last update, we had completed phase 2 and were just beginning demolition for phase 3. After several months of hard work, I am pleased to report today that we continue to maintain our schedule and are on track for a mid-February go-live date for all patient rooms. As mentioned in the previous edition of the Inside Scoop, our mechanical, electrical and plumbing tie-ins to the 8th floor were the next major upcoming activity. During this time we were coring holes through the 9th floor into the ceiling of the 8th floor, section by section, while the 8th floor staff were continuing their day-to-day operations. This required the room(s) where the tie-ins were occurring to be shut down with no employees or patients entering. Although a very strenuous process, we are again happy to report that these tie-ins are now complete. Many thanks to our great Trade Contractors and to the Mercy Health Saint Mary’s staff for their excellent communication, coordination and unbelievable patience! Currently crews are installing wall protection, casework, doors, flooring and MEP finishes. Over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on final finishes as we prepare for state inspections and patient go-live. We will also kick off our final “capstone” to the project, which includes renovating both elevator lobbies on the 9th floor. Due to mechanical tie-ins above the ceiling required to open the phase 3 patient area, the staff elevator lobby will start first. Once complete on the staff elevator side, temporary walls will be assembled in the visitor elevator lobby. The renovation of that area will begin soon after. Each lobby renovation will be packed into a few short weeks, and will require some temporary coordination, but the excitement of connecting all of the spaces and completing the entire 9th floor renovation will make this last push worthwhile!
