Executive Summary It’s been a busy month on-site and the upcoming month looks just as full. In June, the focus of the team was split between the therapy space and phase 2 DNA preamplification. The team has been chipping away at the therapy space for the entire project, but we are starting to see the end of the tunnel. The most dramatic change in this space is the flooring. While the new walls and furniture started to give the space its shape, the flooring dramatically changed the entire space! In addition to the therapy space, we have finished the DNA pre-amplification room. This space turned into a large coordination effort for Andy Egan as they worked around the existing above-ceiling piping and equipment to locate new equipment. Working with Progressive and Michigan Blood, the team was able to place new liebert units in a place where they are functional and accessible for maintenance. While we did run into some hurdles in Phase 2, we were able to complete it with the entire team’s excellent effort. This speaks not only to the work ethic of the construction and design team but also the gracious collaboration of Michigan Blood. Elzinga & Volkers and all of our partners are thankful for the staff’s willingness to jump in and answer questions that come up during the project! The Look Ahead

In the upcoming month we will turn over two areas to Michigan Blood! The first will be the Therapy Space at the front of the building. Now that everything is arriving on-site, this space is really coming together and will be a nice place to work and brave procedures. The second area that we will turn over will be the DNA PostAmplification Room. Since this phase is only one room, we are hoping to build momentum into Phase 4. We have some small hurdles ahead of us, but the MEP team met to make sure we are ready when it comes time to validate this room! -Doug Eddy, Field Manager

SUBCONTRACTOR

SPOTLIGHT Elzinga & Volkers thanks D9 Systems for the work they have been performing on the Lab Renovations! D9’s team has proven that they are extremely flexible and able to perform under a tight timeline. In the recent boardroom & volunteer services move, D9 jumped right into the “fire” to get walls refinished and new ceilings installed, which allowed us to turn over the space to Michigan Blood on time. Thank you for all your hard work, D9! Ken with Vos Glass giving blood!
