Welcome To Your Construction Update Newsletter! We are excited to introduce “On Location,” a monthly newsletter to keep you informed and up-to-date on the Munson Healthcare Manistee construction progression! This newsletter will introduce team members, share tips for working safely on a construction site, provide a recap of recent events and highlight upcoming milestones. We hope this newsletter keeps everyone engaged in the project, even if you are not able to see our work in person.

The project is off to a great start! We have completed several phases of the sitework portion of this project. New asphalt paving, curbs, sidewalks, and drainage are in the process of being installed to accommodate the parking and traffic flow needs of the new facility. With foundations underway we are excited to begin construction on the new Medical Office Building. We know this will be a great addition to Munson Healthcare’s Manistee Campus and the Manistee Community. Working side-byside with Munson Healthcare and Tower Pinkster, we have high expectations for a very successful project! Jared Andersen, Project Manager JaredA@elzinga-volkers.com

Looking Ahead

SAFETY Matters Fun Fact: What Is PPE?

Dan Blamer, Field Manager danb@elzinga-volkers.com | 231-299-7528

Site-work around the building is being finished up for the year, with the remainder of the work to be completed in the Spring. Footing excavation for the new medical office building is underway, and shortly after we will have concrete crews here to form and pour those foundations. We expect to start masonry by the end of the month, which is when the building will truly begin to take shape.

A term you might hear on our site, but may not be familiar with is PPE, which stands for Personal Protective Equipment. Examples of PPE include items such as gloves, high visibility clothing, foot and eye protection, protective hearing devices and hard hats. Some of these items, like hard hats and eye protection, are required 100% of the time on-site, while others, like gloves, are required only when performing certain tasks. Elzinga & Volkers exceeds OSHA standards when it comes to PPE to ensure that all of our workers return home safely every day.

TEAM SPOTLIGHT Who’s Who On Site

The Traverse City branch of Kent Companies is performing all the site concrete work, including replacing curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. They exceeded expectations in meeting E&V’s demanding schedule, and their quality of work was never a concern. Safety was a high priority for their crew, always equipped with proper PPE, and their professionalism was second to none. RETENTION POND BY THE NEW EMPLOYEE PARKING LOT Photo caption
