Project Update
Phase 1 Nearly Complete We are on the verge of completing Phase 1 of the project! We have final approvals from all Saginaw building departments. The BFS inspector has done a walk through with Mike Chrisman some time ago and identified some minor issues to correct, which have been completed. Our final inspection with HFES & BFS is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19th and we’re ready. Planning has been underway for a smooth start of Phase 2. Impact Interiors has installed all furniture, signage and artwork for Phase 1; everyone is pleased. On Thursday, April 13th an open house was held for residents and family members to highlight the changes that will be taking place for the entire facility over time. Recently, another change has taken place. Mike Chrisman is back in West Michigan and Mike Roney is taking over as the Field Manager on this project. Mike hit the ground running and is already a strong member of our project team. If you haven’t met Mike yet, please stop by his office and say hello. Everyday an estimated 1,000 eye injuries occur in U.S. workplaces. The financial cost of these injuries is enormous – more than $300 million per year in lost production time, medical expenses, and worker’s compensation. No dollar figure can adequately reflect the personal toll these accidents take on the injured workers. Because of the high frequency of eye injuries on construction sites, Elzinga & Volkers requires all tradespeople and visitors to wear OSHA approved safety glasses while on site. Who’s Who On Site
Impact Interiors Group is the commercial interior design company for this project. Specializing in custom senior living and boutique hospitality projects, they supplied the beds, bedroom furniture, signage, and art work. Curt Schaap has been great to work with. He sat through meeting after meeting giving his input on their needs and responsibilities. During furniture installation, they put down temporary runners to protect the floors and also took precautions to protect door frames and walls. They did a great job cleaning up, which was very much appreciated. Without being reminded, the Impact Interiors team wore the required PPE. A special thanks goes out to Susan who answered all of our questions with speed. A big thanks to their entire team!
