Project Update We are well into progress on Phase 2. Work is on schedule for a completion and turnover the end of the first week in September. We’ve landscaped the east courtyard and the north side of the Phase 1. We’ve started the discussion with our contractors on Phase 3 work to insure everyone has manpower and materials available to meet our proposed schedule. Additionally, Samaritas & E&V are investigating alternatives to the temporary kitchen trailers we’ve been pursuing to date. The costs for the trailers and utilities are excessive. E&V is defining the schedule to remodel the kitchen within the overall Phase 5 and Samaritas is investigating catering options. More to follow. Looking Ahead

SAFETY Matters Injury Prevention

We are in our drywall hanging process moving into finishes. Our team is currently working on a new phasing plan to increase productivity and the overall schedule, which will also allow us to place foundations in the ground before winter.

With all the dangerous equipment, sharp materials and precarious heights that can be found on a construction site, you would probably be surprised to know that simple slips, trips and falls are one of the most common accidents. Small holes and uneven surfaces are unavoidable during the construction of a building, but proper precautions can help minimize their danger. All holes on a project site that are over 4” in diameter most be covered and marked with bold writing. Uneven surfaces can be temporarily leveled or traffic can be directed around them. Most importantly, daily clean up and housekeeping will keep the jobsite free of debris and loose materials. All these seemingly minor precautions can help avoid serious injury on the project site.

TEAM SPOTLIGHT Who’s Who On Site

New Windows & Siding

J. E. Johnson, Inc. has been working very diligently on the rough for phase two, while also problem solving phase one hot water supply issues. This project has many hurdles as a design-build plumbing of a 1960’s building with undocumented changes over the years and old MEP systems. They are an asset to this project!
